Religion of peace my ass.

LOL
-
Lets not start stirring up racial hatred here like there is over at AGW please.
-
So if I posted an image of the Pope planting semtex in shopping malls or executing women and children in a well circulated paper, I wouldn't get death threats?
It's only to be expected and you could apply it to every major religion.
-
Right, christians never make threaths against people who happen to disagree with them or ridicule them... Wake up you prejudiced moron.
-
Let's not turn this nasty guys, just remember that the AH community is made up of many faiths and countries. We're a global community lets not turn on each other.
-

I seriously doubt that you would, Dowding. The image of the Pope doing those things is a preposterous one - even funny - because it is sooo far removed from reality.
Ahhh, but the image above... well... figure it out.
-
Dowding is right on the mark.
-
No he isn't.
-
LOL Weazel! Now Dowding...how about a pic of the pope actually toejamting in the woods?! :D

I may have read too quickly but I failed to see Robertson's or Falwell's name in either article. From what little I know of either man I'd say both would vehemently denounce the murder of any abortionist.

No more directly involved than most fundamentalist Mullahs were with the WTC attacks.

How true that is I can't say. Rather, let's look at the activity that is widely supported by Muslims in Islamic countries. Can you see a difference now or need I go into detail?
It wasn't a picture of some well known peace loving Imam that Robertson and Falwell were singing with but a known and brutal terrorist. Would you intentionally distort the facts?

last week i read 4th Fighter Group ace James Goodson's autobiography "Tumult in the Clouds". he fell into german hands and was about to executed as a terrorist when he was saved by LW interregator Hans Schraff (who, it turns out, already knew everything Goodson knew and a lot more)..."terrorist" is just what a government calls it's enemies to make you hate them

or it could be the fact that they (the alleged terrorist) hate you, procalim their hate for you, and go about conceiving and acting to destroy you and/or your way of life?

Here are their comments in context:
Pat Robertson began the interview asking Falwell what his response has been to the terrorist attacks. Falwell said there had been a massive prayer gathering of members of his congregation along with students from Liberty University. He told the TV audience that they had humbled themselves before God, prayed for President Bush and his advisers and for the victims of the attacks.
Falwell then likened the attacks to Pearl Harbor and that at that time, Hitler wanted to destroy the Jews and conquer the world. Now, "Islamic fundamentalists, radical terrorists, Middle-Eastern monsters" want to destroy Israel and conquer the world.
The two men then talked about religious revival and whether the events of September 11 might spark spiritual renewal in America.
Then Falwell said, "What we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact, God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve."
Robertson replied, "Well, Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror, we haven't begun to see what they can do to the major population."
Falwell said, "The ACLU has got to take a lot of blame for this. And I know I'll hear from them for this, but throwing God...successfully with the help of the federal court system...throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools, the abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked and when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad...I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who try to secularize America...I point the thing in their face and say you helped this happen."
Robertson said, "I totally concur, and the problem is we've adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government, and so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do, and the top people, of course, is the court system."
Falwell added, "Pat, did you notice yesterday that the ACLU and all the Christ-haters, the People for the American Way, NOW, etc., were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress, as they went out on the steps and and called out to God in prayer and sang 'God bless America' and said, let the ACLU be hanged. In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time, calling on God."
The cartoon is poking fun at a couple of religious nut-jobs who said 9/11 is punishment from God because America has turned away from him.
Basically the same message the other religious nut-job depicted in that cartoon bleats...
Dunno how many murders the other two filthy scum bags are responsible for, probably not many as they are too busy bilking simple minded folks out of their money to do any wet work.

I beg to differ. The cartoon is calling Robertson and Falwell religious fanatics and making them partners with OBL. There's no fun in it and while Robertson and Falwell may be considered religious fanatics I challenge you to show me where they've done any harm. On the other hand I bet it'd be very easy for me to dig up and post extensive humanitarian efforts on both their parts.
-
Osamas words on America for comparison with Pat and Jerrys words?
Or how about his humanitarian efforts in regards to "his" followers?
There's no difference between bin laden and the two con artists he's depicted with.
The whole point here is how people use "God" to suit there own agendas.

roadkill, there's all the difference in the world. I'll dig up and post the pros and you post the cons on Robertson and Falwell. Or would you rather stick to vague accusations that you don't have to back up?
-
If your comfortable with Pat and Jerry pimping "God" out for there own agendas I'm not going to be able to change your mind.
It's all a matter of perspective...but blinders considerably narrow a persons field of vision.
-
As I suspected, you're willing to sling mud without really looking to see if it's warranted. Roberton's and Falwell's ministries do a great deal to help needy people all over the world. I find it very repulsive to see them lumped in with a mass muderer that did nothing for his own people but repress their women and starve their children.
-
Quit trying to spin the cartoon out of context.
Let me take a wild assed guess....you must be a republican too? :p

Uh, let me see if I got it right. Robertson, OBL, and Falwell singing together from a "hymnal" labled "Kill the infidel".
Here's my take, typical anti-god agenda attempting to discredit Christianity by associating prominent Christian leaders with the fanaticism of OBL.
The reality is OBL has done nothing but subjugate and destroy while the other two spread their religion through helping people survive and have better lives.
Can you refute this?

How many virgins did Robertson promise to Michael Frederick Griffin?
Anyway, the cartoonist got it wrong. A pinto comes standard with pyrotechnics.

my own gov't does much more to destroy my way of life than any other organization

Did you even read the true statements from Pat and Jerry I posted?
Unbunch your panties.

How many people did Muhammed murder?
Remember the cartoon is an insulting Muhammed and ALL his followers
-
Thrawn: How many people did Muhammed murder?
As a leader of a band and then an army he murdered quite a lot of people. Probably a few personally but certainly thousands on his immediate orders and direction. He started with intercepting the merchant caravans from Mecca, remember? Then he captured it and other cities. Sacking a city in medieval times was quite a violent affair.

You're referring to the first cartoon, I don't believe that I commented on that one. I called OBL a murderer not Muhammed.
However, I will go so far as to say that I have heard Muhammed called a warrior so it's not a great stretch to associate him with weapons. Although the ryder van seems to imply secretivness and therein I can see the objection.

Take the quiz!
The Falwell/Robertson/Bin Ladin Quiz (http://www.funnystrange.com/quiz/index.asp)

I think Mohammad, and Jesus for that matter, would probably look upon a modern automoble with a mixture of awe and fear. Perhaps the automobile would become an item of worship, maybe even form the foundation of a new religion. Who's to say.
Charon

Jesus would definitely drive a Chevy.

Ideology alone is worth little, ask a Russian. How that ideology is put into practice makes all the difference. Again, I say look at actions, they speak far louder than words.
Some feel that ridicule is a form of censorship. I disagree. It is my right to point out any time I feel that ridicule is misplaced and I've done so regarding the second cartoon.
