Title: I think my joystick has "had it"......
Post by: Curval on January 04, 2002, 08:10:00 AM
My joystick is acting mighty strange.  I use a MS Precision Pro USB stick...last night I noticed that every plane I tried to fly would "pull" to the right...initially I thought it was a "trim" issue, but when I put the plane on Auto-pilot the AP engages but then turns itself off and the plane continues to roll to the right.  I tried over and over to fix this manually, but it was a frustrating experience.

Any ideas?

I plan on picking up a new Cougar when they are released....anyone know when that might be?

Recalibrate in Windows *several* times. That works well enough most often.

Okay...I didn't try to re-cal in Windows...I will give it a shot tonight (assuming the wife doesn't freak on me)

Anyone know when the Cougar is due out??  I heard January 2002....

I dont think you can calibrate that stick in windows. I have the identical stick and there was no option to in winblows. My stick wasnt pitching back full tilt as it should, eventualy i uninstalled the stick and re-installed it, only thing that i could find to fix it.

But there is a  configuration option in the game controller software that allows you to see if the stick is going full tilt to its fullest potential, that could help you narrow down the problem. ( coud be something as simple as disabled combat trim, and not manualy trimming )

Amon....you can re-calibrate in Windows with this stick...BUT you must suspend or shut down the MS Precision Pro software first...

Seems as though the MS Sticks are dying in droves now.  My MS Sidewinder is 3 years old, came with "Mechwarrior" some years ago.  I was dogfighting (yes, laz, dogfighting!) a Spit the other night and the damn stick popped out of its base.  While trying to shove the damn thing back together, I was able to continue to jink away from the Spit, only to auger a few seconds later.  I was complemented on having "nice evasives" as I was duct-taping the bastard back together   :)

Can't wait for the Thrustmaster stick to be released!

I've noticed that the MS sticks will be reliable if you don't use excess force while playing.

My wife destroyed a new PPro within 3 minutes of nascar3 and panic movements  :)

My nephew was flying on my AH account on New Years day....methinks he may be the culprit!

Gonna join him up in a few days...he was really excited about it...too much so though it appears.
