Love it, Ammo!
Where do you live? Birmingham here.

Just noticed San Antonio, TX on your profile to the left. Visited there for 6 miserable weeks @ 15 years ago for basic training at Lackland AFB. I heard the town was nice, I just didn't get to enjoy it!

Born and raised south of Montgomery. Been with the Air Force since 88 and currently stationed in San Antonio, among a bunch of aggie fans...yuk.
San Antonio is a great town though. Lot's of good folks around as well. Everywhere I have been I have found that 90% of the people are good. Still, its not God's Country:D

That means you and I were at Lackland the same year! I was there May- June 1988, the 3906th if I remember correctly. I went on to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo for Intel training, then two years in the AF. Got bored w/ the AF and switched to the Army (Mechanized Infantry). Got real tired of living in the field and two years after that I got a Intel slot in the Special Forces. Was the best of both worlds! Got out in 1994.

My first three car wrecks all had two things in common- I was at fault and Steely Dan was on the stereo. Seriously, when he comes on in my car I turn the station. Not that I'm supersticious or anything.... (knocking on wood)
-
Steely Dan is pseudo-disco-teeny-bop-crap!
And that is the nicest thing I can say about those LOSERS!!
ok.... I'm better now.

Recon7-
Likely we were there together. I went through basic that summer as well. I think I was in the the 3704 or the 3407, its all a blur to me:) I went off to be a bomb stacker and a missile mover. Got tired of that not too long ago and got a job in the Intel world.
Coach fraud, coach "ran", coach franochio, TCHAD, etc...
Tumor-
There wasn t anything coed about the squadron I was in, not that I might have enjoyed that if it was:D

Hey recon7 I was in USAF basic in Jan of '82 and I only had to go 5 weeks! :)
It was a strange time when I was there...they stopped Honor Flight for 1 week so we didn't have to march around and compete at all. That left us with a lot of free time. Base lib and a week of town access.
I always thought basic was a joke anyway. Worked up to 15 pushups 25 jumping jacks 25 situps and running in a group for 1 1/4 mile in 14 minutes.
I actually got OUT of shape in basic..gained 10 lbs.
-
Mighty, how could you amnage to eat all your meals in the alloted five minutes?:D Yopu would have had to to gain that much weight. Did you taste your food? On second thought, why would you want too!!
-
Amen to that Ammo! Was probably good that they only gave us 5 minutes to eat that slop! Saw my drill instructor on 20 / 20 a few years ago. He was yelling at juveniles at one of those "basic training" delinquent facilities. I think I had nightmares that night...

Steely Dan are great musicians. I like some of their songs:
"Reeling in the Years" is a great song

My roomie at college was a Steely Dan fan[atic] in the late 70s.
Only now am I able to listen to them and not get too sick.
Not that they are bad, just I was way overexposed to them at the time.
