Title: Anybody played Navy Seals?
Post by: hblair on January 02, 2003, 08:55:30 AM
MY kids got a playstation2 for Christmas. I rented Navy Seals a few nights ago and have been hooked. Fun game. Cool details too, like when a grenade explodes nearby the game goes silent except for a faint "ringing" in the ears :)

I like the TV commercial for SOCOM.

Buncha dweebs wearing mikes and sittin' on couches gearing up to kick ass, they plot thier gameplay as a team, go into the game and get killed quickly.

They sit there wondering who the hell the opposition was!?!?!?

Flash to a desert tent, a group of Special Forces troops in kakies, standing around talking about how easy it was to kill the other guys.

I sometimes wonder if sumthin' very much like that doesn't happen in AH from time to time.

It is a really good game and I especially like the grenade effects.  Next PC game I'll be buying will be Splinter Cell...

My current addiction is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City... ya gotta love the 80s! (the music! ahh yes)

I dont have PS2 - nor have I played SOCOM, but when I was in Electronics Boutique a few days ago picking up some PC goodies, no less than three youngsters armed with their mothers came and asked for it while I was waiting in line - only to be told it was sold out.

Do you want to hear a couple of cool things about that game? #1 is that the sounds are all realistic. The makers of the game sent their sound recording guys to a NAVSPECWAR training facility to record the actual weapons being fired. #2 is theres a ton of hidden things in the game. You can issue commands to elements with the headset thingie. There are some commands that exist in the game that arent listed in the game instructions. For example, a common phrase from that group of guys, when someone is lagging or screwing up is 'undiddly yourself!'. Get that game hooked up and key comms to your bravo element and bark 'BRAVO UNdiddly YOURSELF' and see what happens. Also the commercial hits pretty close to the mark. More SEALs than you would imagine own playstations and many of them got that game out of curiosity. The only difference is that in the commercial the boys deal death and in real life they all suck on the playstation. Its really hard learning to shoot weapons with the playstation controller. You safest bet is to get the stoner and overhose everything that looks dangerous.
