Looks like the Shokaku to me but the nose seems wrong so I might be mistaken.

Just a guess since that aircraft in the picture appears to be a USN dive bomber.

Nope.. 'tis the Amagi prior to being sunk in that photo.  Somewhere in the southen islands

smaller CV is Kaiyou, Larger one is Katuragi.

Amagi did not go southen islands, Katuragi also.;)
They had not enough oils and airplanes for combat.
They were never go combat ara. they attacked at KURE naval port by US navy's airraid.  
Ur pic had take 1945/3/19 at KURE.

Katuragi had airraid bombing 3 times, 1945/3/19, 7/24, 7/28.
Katuragi got 2 1000lb bombs at 2nd airraid,but she didnt sink.

she had used by 'Hikiage'(bring IJA solders to Japan from China and pacific islands) after wartime.1945~1947

Amagi had half-overthrow at KURE port by airraid 1945/3/19.

Did you mean Taiyo...I'm not aware of a Japanese CV Kaiyou? From small size it looks like a Taiyo class CV.

Hi humble. :)

IJN warship had 'nameing rule'.
small CV '~~you' series are 'CV modefied from civirian ship'.

Taiyou -Big hawk- was modefied from Kasuga-maru (17000ton Passenger liner for Japan~europe)

Kaiyou -Sea hawk- was modefied from Aruzenchina-maru (12755ton passenger liner for Japan~south america)

Taiyou had 2 sister.
''Taiyou, Chyuuyou, Unyou'' was same class.
because, they were modefied from same 17000ton class passenger liner ''Kasuga-maru, Nitta-maru, Yahata-maru''.

another '~~you' series small CV....
Shinyou -God hawk- was modefied from Scharnhrst�@( 18184ton German passenger liner)
WW2 started when she came to Japan,
She could not return to her motherport at Germany.
so, IJN bought�@her from german owner,and modefied for IJN CV.

Kure is in Japan, near Hiroshima.  One of the largest Naval bases.
