Title: JPGs with BLURRY GREEN-TEXT
Post by: Borg on January 04, 2003, 11:49:20 AM
Everytime I try to convert a BMP file to a JPG, the picture quality is good, but the green icons and green text in the buffer is always blurry and out of focus. I have tried different levels of compression, but it does not seem to help.

What program do you use that gives the best results in this area?

I use Gimp.  When saving jpeg files, in addition to the 1-100% quality slider, you can tweak the sampling options.  1x1 will make a slightly larger file, but the sharpness of text improves significantly over the default 2x2.  I think Photoshop/PSP should also have a similar setting.

:)   Thanks, Sancho

Changing that color-sampling ratio really did the trick.
Using ACDSee, I merely uncheck the 2:1 setting, and I get perfect icon and text-definition in my pics.
