Title: channel 5 highlite
Post by: anton on January 04, 2003, 10:26:11 PM
wondering how difficult it would be to enable a highlite feature for everyone on channel 5.  Would be nice to have a way to highlite everyone tuned to my channel, that way id know where they are. Or maybe possible to have multiple wingmen???

as I said when you suggested this in ch 1 the other day; good idea... even if you are a yak dweeb.

Yea, Yak is a true dweeb machine. I really like the 2 1/2 sector range it allows me for round trip flights. And those 120 rounds of cannon afford me the ability to start sprayin at 900ft. Best of all Its a gem at 20k & turns Excellent when slow, Hell I dont know why they ever bothered to make any other planes after the yak.

But the REAL point of this thread is to see if any others out there agree, Channel-5 highlite is a worthwhile & fairly simple improvement that could/should be added to our virtual world.

Would be REAL nice ... The MAW is made of of multiple squads so all I can see is just my squad ... would like to see where ALL the MAW are.

Yup, sure would be nice. Lots of times we have a fair number of none squadies tuned that we are talking to, would be cool to know where they are.

Speaking of highlighting.....

Still waiting for the "Map Room" dot color to get changed from yellow to "sky blue".

I'd rather see names associated with dots on the radar.

I vote for this idea.  It's the single biggest problem I have with the arena.

Great idea! Be neat to also see a selection in the Club screen to link squad wings together on Squad Channels. Or maybe raise the # of people in a squad. But it would be neat to see where folks tuned to the radio are located.

Enlarge Squad sizes  (36 in WW2 usually) USAF

Or..as Anton suggested anyone on same radio Frequency shows on dar as identifiable.

I second an increase in squad size, and if thats not doable, then Anton's idea is a great one.

Where are the MAW's?  They have like 458 members - wouldnt they love this idea?

Started a similar thread in the feedback forum as this one has fetched no official notice. Please see "wheres my squaddies? " on the feedback board.
 If its feedback they want........

But it DOES highlight....  If you're in a mission. ;)   Otherwise use the tried and true ".wingman anton"  dot command.

The real basis for this post is that my squad has exceeded AH squad size limits, causing us to split. Resulting in many of the guys in the squad are currently harder to recognize.

The .wingman command would be sufficient if I could have more than 1. But thats not the case.

I have made several attempts to fetch a staff type answer to this topic & the perma-squelch topic, But apparently neither are topics HTC is ready to openly discuss,  Or provide a logical reason why/why not.  Both topics have been on boards for over a week with plenty of response & great input.

So why even have the feedback forum If yer gonna pick & choose the topics you respond to?

CREATE MISSIONS!

Or did you not try this already?  Missions tune radio 5 to the mission itself.  Highlighting everyone that is in the same mission.  And they're fairly easy to create.

PLUS.... Once created and saved, MISSIONS are easy to modify on the fly (no pun intended)[/b]

Shall we discuss the many problems with mission maker?
Maybe just the fact that its rather a detailed process, especiially accomidating everyones plane preference, armament/ fuel load. & by the time you get all the mission set up the whole strategic situation has changed.

WHY NOT JUST INCREASE SQUAD SIZE???? Or  ENABLE CH-5 HIGHLITE????????

Making a mission is not a solution to  keeping a large squad highlited, no matter how big or what color you type the suggestion in. But thanks anyway.
