Five hours after our triumph at 48 you sent in the hoards of p38s to suicide the cv. I watched six guys drop on the cv and even two who suicided the cv after the cv was dead. Then I watched as even more enthusiastically suicided the cruiser and then one by one the escorts. It simply amazes me that you can get this kind of cooperation and team spirit at times when its hard to even get bishops to answer in the radio buffer. But I have to ask why kill yourselves even after the goal has been accomplished? and what are you going to do if ht changes the effectiveness of suicide? Im amazed really.

gotta make 2 comments here-
1) how fitting is the handle of the Bish pictured! wtfg
2) He is the only bish pictured! sad but true

LOL Gpreddy, sadly enough, too common

But I have to ask why kill yourselves even after the goal has been accomplished?
It shows their dedication to the cause?
and what are you going to do if ht changes the effectiveness of suicide? Im amazed really.
Just a guess but....maybe they'll figure out another way to kill the CV?

How about we add an "attrition" model to AH? A certain limit for each player in a certain period of time for each model of airplane.
Then this "drop and splat, bomb and auger" routine will work about three times and then there will be no airplanes to fly?
I can applaud the teamwork... but beyond that what type of talent does it take to repeatedly dive, bomb, auger?
I would really like to see the arena drift back more to aerial tactics and less about mass horde, lemming style suicide rushes.

hmmm ... lesson learned from the bishes ?

Yeah the method described above could be straight from bish handbook for beginners..
Seen it so many times.

Well gee whiz...I was manning the Knit CV's 5inch guns for an hour and knocked down 28 P38s, P51s, Lancs, Ju88s, TBMs and Lancasters attempting suicide raids on the CV...and when the flak cleared, the CV was alive and well.
And they were all Bishops....
So, perhaps rather than whining your poor cv is under attack...GO DEFEND IT.

Wow, I'm just amazed that there are Bish that don't travel in hordes.
Or maybe the screen shot was taken from the perspective of being in the horde baitball looking out.
The most amazing thing I saw last night in the MA was a couple of MAWs landing twenty-plus kills in Tiger I's. That's pretty good!

I heard the conversation on the radio before this all happened...
It was only done to see if and how long it would take someone to hit the BBS with a box of tissues ;).
The if is down, does anyone have the time?

Then you piss off people like Lasz, who doesn't want anything to interfere with his precious furballing.

Advice for knights only:
A subscription is open; we need everyone's contribution: we need to buy another bunch of lemmings from Bishes. We ended yet the ones we bought before Xmas :p
Hope they still sell us that low prices, given the abundance:D :D

I was in that neat little mission, we were sent up to attack the cv because the port that the cv was from was in the process of being captured.... But no worries...in typical Knit fashion, the majority of players went on to other endeavors, ie. wasting time on furball island... and the port was not captured, the cv respawned..and the knits were wasting time again as usual.. our squad rotated through the different countries 3 or 4 monthes ago.. and the beeching is the same no matter what country you fly...so, don't worry Gpreddy, the knits will find a way to FUBAR any mission accomplished :)
Like the bish and rooks, some capture and attack, some like to furball, some just fly around at 25k and bnz, some like to sneak around in the weeds, and deservedly so, unless it is a organized campaign like in special events, then everyone has a right to do what they want.
Like LePaul, I like manning the cv ack guns, amazing how many suicide Bish you killing manning the cv guns :)

WOW , looks like some players are not interested in collecting that $100.00 and are NOT POINT DWEEBS . I hope rude sees this one , It is worthy of the whine of the week . You can change your name but we still know who you are vosswhine
-
nonsense all this thing , the real sucide is atack a CV with Ju 88 to torpedo him , tbm got 1 wonder shot so it can be made , and the ijn buff got even beter wonders
the only thing what you maybe do not like you cant shot them defensles like when ju 88 coming :p

Rather than restrict airplane availability to control suicide attacks, restrict ordinance availability. If a player dies within (some number of) seconds after dropping bombs, he cannot load more bombs for (some number of) hours.
This would at least eliminate the die-and-repeat horde swarms marching across the map.
-
Spoken like someone who's never compressed a P-38 with 1,000 pounders strapped to the wings.
Restricting ordinance availability is a good idea, but it should be done by perking the bigger bombs. Put a cost to those bombs and either (a) lighter ordinance will be carried or (b) accuracy will improve because only the experienced players will have the perk points to blow on dropping a vehicle hangar or aircraft carrier. It'll also be worth the trouble of bringing unspent bombs back to the base instead of dropping them indiscriminately on ammo dumps and fuel depots.

Just started flyin the Jug a bit, have had 3 succesful NON-SUICIDE drops on CV. 3 bombs & full rockets. 3 of 4 attempts I lived through. I have JUST started flying this plane. No need for suicide, why waste those HUGE guns? Look within yerself, seek skill.
Anton:cool:
-
P.S. I didnt stick around to see if ordinance hit (anti-aircraft very heavy), but the kills from dropping them assured me they hit. And when my squaddies behind me hit after me..... no mo boat. They lived too ;)

Not a whine guys. The night was really a bunch of fun. The rooks were hitting bishland pretty hard and still the furball at 1 was in a rage. No one was answering the call to help against knights so the few that were over there were getting kills left and right against dweebs and lemmings. The cv guns were full so there were three of us on cap. Before this hoard of p38s showed up I was in the air and dropped onto a suicidal p47 that was too shallow to do anything but lob his bomb in the direction of the cv but my own acked killed me with one ping. You dont see that anywhere but at the cv so before minus whines that he cant get his ju88 past me or paint whines about people playing the game and not furballing I want to point out that defending the cv is not all a milkrun. Those ju88s after the cv usually have a defending fighter or two coming after anyone that attacks them. Turning your back on a fast plane or even a co-e plane like a n1k takes a lot of nerve and when your finished you are lower then everyone.
Wow paint you still manage to whine even when someone salutes your countries teamwork. Go back and check the ranks over the months past and you will see that nothing about how I play ah has changed. If you dont like it tough.
Yeah anton I managed a drop on their cruiser yesterday and killed three f6fs on egress with the 5" guns manned and everything firing. I guess they give six calls about as regularly as we do.
Sorry zip I missed that call. I squelch 1 everytime I see rauml chatting or after about one minute of politics whichever comes first. Reread the post. I still cant believe knights get this level of cooperation.
-
GPreddy,
As of late, this has been the exception, not the rule with the Knights.
Knights, like Rooks and Bish, can get hung up on "furball island" or A44 on Mindano too.

OK , that 38 mission was otw to 58 . The only reason we hit the cv was because some biscuit in a zeke off the cv killed our goons THAT IS WHY WE HIT THE CV.
hmm I quess I do whine too much :(
OH YEAH I forgot , MAW are just a bunch of damn furballers aren't we
-
I think it was some bishop squad who decided to rotate to knits this month :)
only the bish could manage such a well executed suicide mission surely? :D
-
Did anyone actually try to suicide dive in on a CV? It's nearly impossible except with very tough planes. Usually the CV aa blows attacking aircraft to pieces before they have a chance to hit the deck (aka suicide).
So it isn't suicide (even if someone wanted to) but just allowing someone else to kill.
-
I think dive-bombing CVs tend to be suicide runs because its hard to drop accurately, avoid the AAA and enemy CAP, Then RTB without dying.
Id guess most guys would like to drop and live to RTB, But the AAA is very severe at a Task Group.
Perhaps if the AAA wasnt so concentrated, and players had to man the AAA to defend a CV, Folks might be inclinded to drop with better of hope of survival.
I think AI Defense is too good, Thus the feeling you need to risk getting extremely low and making sure your drop counts.
How many times has someone made a bomb drop, only to lose a control surface and be unable to pullout and auger in near the ship. This appears to be a suicide attack, but probably that pilot would prefer to live.
Just my Opinion, But if the AI v Manned Guns were tweaked, it might change the entire situation.

I wonder if more effective short-range ack would help. The long-range ack is already more deadly than anything seen even in modern warfare (I know because I do this for a living... radar guided heavy ack over Iraq has been shooting at us for a decade with no kills) but the short range ack in AH seems like it might not be as deadly as it could be. As in RL, maybe the rule ought to be that if you keep your distance, you've got a chance but if you buzz the carrier or other defended location, you're toast. That's how it worked in WWII and how it works today in modern air combat, so I'm not sure what's causing the reality malfunction in AH...

I dont know if u all saw it but i landed a 40 kill sortie off one of our cv`s and guess what???............................. ....they were all Rooks!
I must admit, i dont often see knights doing this sort of thing although i know they do, but ROOKS are the worst in my opinion.
get a cv anywhere near a Rook base and i guarantee that withing 20 mins, you'll have 25 - 30 Rooks suiciding it.
You can tell those who genuinely try to survive coz they drop their bombs and pull out of the dive higher. My gripe is with those who blatantly lawndart the cv making sure they dont miss and know as they take off they wont RTB.
just my 2pennies worth, i`ll STFU now! :p
