Title: N Korea's last chance
Post by: OZkansas on January 06, 2003, 09:37:27 AM
The UN has given N Korea one more chance to stop their nuclear program and allow the inspectors back. And if N Korea doesn't stop the UN will wave many pieces of paper at them!! That should put the N Koreans in their place!!

You who live on the west coast should feel secure!

Are you sure it was UN? Here on the news we are told it's an International Nuclear Energy Agency.

I don't understand what's so wrong with DPRK nuclear powerplants. If you want them to stop using them - then I suggest to make US stop burning coal and oil because they simply waste them and bring huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

I hope Russian government will be smart enough to supply them with heat-emitting elements for their powerplants.

It reminds me about 1951, when "UN" aerial bandits sent hordes of strategic bombers to destroy powerplants on Yalutzian river.

They aren't allowed to operate a nuclear reactor per 1994 agreement with the UN.

They are tampering with the current nuclear reactor.

They are threatening of switching it on.

They have removed the monitoring devices from the reactor.

What is hard to understand about the situation Boroda?

I thought that this page had some pretty good information on the ins and outs of this situation.

They were told they'll get oil supplies for their "conventional" powerstations. They didn't. They need electricity.

Is THIS hard to understand?

Also please notice that they face direct military threats from the US. So I think it's OK for them to prepare for defence by all means.

If they developed a Bomb by themselves - noone can stop them from making it. If they'll use it - it's qyuite another question and they'll face the consequences.

Feel afraid someone is able to answer to your blackmail?

Hey, they are violating the UN's agreement.. not the US...

I thought the UN was the be-all, end-all... I guess you don't care what agreements the UN has?

This ain't just about the US this time.

"You" are not stupid. It's a fact.

But why should I believe an enemy?

Going home now, hope to see some interesting answers here tomorrow. Merry Christmas everyone.

I mean your country is threateninig them. They have the right to defend.

The right of self defence is a basic right of any country, isn't it?

It's easy to understand, but so far as I can tell, incorrect.

KEDO suspended the oil Shipments in November, after NK admited to violating the agreement. Well, according to our friends at  The Arms Control Association (http://www.armscontrol.org/act/2002_12/kedo_dec02.asp)  who are usually pretty left leaning (by US standards anyhow).

Boroda: Feel afraid someone is able to answer to your blackmail?

Are you sure the first bomb sold by them on the black market will not go to Checnen freedom fighters for their "self defence"?

they played with their nuclear reactor the entire time we were shipping them oil.

they get ready to turn it on, announce to the world they have been playing with it and we cut off the oil...

Now they say they have to turn it on or they freeze ...

I say have the Israelis do what they do best. Once the reactor is toast, ship the NK's oil, at double the price...

We weren't threatening them until they admitted they were violating a UN agreement.

UN: "We noticed you guys are messing around with an offline, and UN mandated to remain offline, nuclear reactor."

NK: "Yeah, hey... we also got a nuke or two we ain't supposed to have."

UN: "Well, stop messing around with the reactor."

NK: "Sure guy." Meanwhile removing monitoring equipment.

US: "Stop that, "

NK: "Make us"

Sure seems like we're bullying them poor N Koreans around.

Yep, if it wasn't for the permanent seats on the UN Security Council, they might be more effective.  Ready to give up yours US?
