Hes looking for a copy of Win 95 on floppies.
Anyone?

I'll check when I go home for lunch
-
does he, or can he get, a network card ?
that'd be easier...
-
13 upgrade disks, copy of window 3.1 disk 1 & a win95 emergency disk
will that work?
-
All here...

copy the .cab files to a directory on his hard drive (or disks) from your cdrom then run setup from the harddrive.

Destination is a laptop, cables on his HD are different than mine.
IE was first idea I thought of :)
Win 31, hmmm don't think that will do.
Finnish version, LOL thanks Harppa, but I doubt he'd be pleased.
Problem with the network card is there is no existing OS that will run it.
Could possible do it by loading dos 6, & then network it together, but thought that seemed like a long ways around.

Most comp stores (ones that sell parts anyways) wll have an adapter for these. The laptop hard drives have four extra pins which are for power.
-
if you want mine, just give me an address to ship them to

Delivered back to owner.
Many thanks sir, you want disks back? or save them for the next guy who needs em???
-
hang on to them and pass on the favor to the next guy that needs one

I have another solution for you if the disks do not end up working.
Go to a computer store and buy a laptop hard drive converter and install the drive into any pc. (They are sometimes called a "buskit" or 2.5" to 3.5" hard drive adapter.) Then do the following:
Using a win95 boot disk, start the desktop with cd rom support. Run fdisk on the laptop drive. Reboot. Start with cd rom support again and format the laptop drive. mkdir a directory on the laptop drive called win95. cd into that directory (cd win95). Copy the .cab files off the windows 95 cd (in the win95 directory) into the win95 directory on the hard drive. (Make sure you are in the win95 directory on the hard drive and type "copy e:\win95\" where e: is the drive letter for the cd rom drive - it may not be e:) You should see the files being transfered into the win95 directory on the hard drive. This will use up about 100 MB of space.
Now simply turn the system off and put the laptop drive back in the laptop. Start the laptop off a boot disk and simply cd into the win95 directory and type "setup." (Note that if your windows 95 disk was an upgrade version you will need have have windows 3.1 floppies available. I can't remember if win95 asks for more than disk 1, but I do know that win98 asks for all 5.)
One benefit of installing windows 95 (or 98, 98se, and me) in this manner is that the install will complete much faster and you will never need your windows disks again. If you are prompted for a windows cd or disk, just point the system to the win95 folder on the hard drive.
