My bet is with funked's flying machine on a twisty track, especially if modded to the value of a Porsche or M5. :)

These two cars were bone stock...now if they were to mod them...but what for? :)

Narsus, you won't find too many BMW's or Porsches on gravel ;)

What I meant rip, is that a stock Porsche is about 3 times more expensive than a stock Scooby, and the M5 2-3 times.

So you'd have to mod the Scooby to an equivalent price value for fairness. :)

Money?  Money is no object when you seek fun, son. :) You'd probably end up with a Scooby with Porsche or BMW suspension parts on it :D

Sabine is the Driver I believe. Oh, the the Porsche is a 996 GT3.

Excuse me? A Bimmer with 189,000 miles on it is what SOLD me on their product.  I used to think folks just bough them for a status symbol like my friend Funked until one day a friend dropped it off over a week-end while he borrowed my truck..the first day of driving this car quality slapped me in the face compared to its American counter-part, then 2nd day I looked at the odometer thinking it had probably less than 30,000 on it, I was shocked to see 189,000 miles. I asked my friend what had been done to it (he was the 2nd owner) He replied "Brakes, Oil, usual wear and tear stuff."

Edit: You may have been speaking of the "Beemer" motorcycle.  Beemers are motorcycles, "Bimmers" are automobiles.

Ripsnort - I think what my kid brother was saying was that the M5 is no ordinary M5. All they do is drive it around that track (it being the taxi service) - after 12,000 miles they give it back to BMW, but all they do with it is scrap it since the chasis is shagged by that stage. It comes with all that bouncing off of the kerbs and general hard driving.

A car that isn't twitchy on asphalt isn't being pushed enough. That M5 was all over the place on some of those corners - it wasn't far off the limit at any point.

I liked that film. I love the bikes riding like they own the road - get the shreck out of the way, you leather-bound dweebs!

I also have a strange attraction for women who drive fast cars and appreciate a good motor. They are a rare breed, unfortunately.

I remember one girlfriend describing the old VW Beetle as 'sex' - that put a real dent in my self-esteem, I can tell you. ;)

Hi,

don't forget the M5 driver is a pro, and she pushed the car to the limit on that track.

And to the bikes...driving a bike on a track is something different than driving a car, you simply have to know the track A LOT better than while sitting in a car.

I for my taste do first a slow round on a bike, and than try to do each following a bit faster than the one before.

I guess you mentioned the yellow tow-car on the left side...it was probably pulling a tard's car out of the ditch, who thought being on a racetrack means he's a racing driver.
If you ever met on a track a pro you know what I mean, you've got a really fast car, think you're going fast, and believe even a pro could only be a little faster, because, hey, i'm at the limit...

And then, suddenly a car with less horsepower shows up, and is drving circles around your's...and you have absolutly no clue how to follow him...guess who's in...a pro.
:D

Rip, you do know that Kurt Tank designed all BMWs, either that or the news ones are just directly related to his older designs?

:D

BMWs. Good cars. Very comfy. Good wroom wroom. Get the 30mm twin gun extra package and you'll not ever find yourself annoyed by a car in front of you.

No, no pros, but the by far better car and used to drive on the Ring, and Sabine had at least two passengers in the car, the M5 must have been a lot heavier than the porsche.
But what is impressive, you see that the Porsche had no probs in catching up to her in acceleration and braking, or in highspeed passages...but whenever it became winding and tricky, the Porsche is at least only as fast in some moments it even falls back slightly.
Would be funny to see what had happened if the following driver would also be in a M5. He would have no chance I think.

I once saw a interview with Sabine, if I remember correctly, she grew up at the Ring, her father had the restaurant or something like that, so, there are very few people who know the track better than she does.
In that interview she said what is the most funny thing forher...the first answer was...guys who open the door, and say: "Damn, a woman is driving, that can't be fast".
She laughed and said then, that her goal is, to make those guys puke.
:D

I was lucky enough to drive a real 289 Cobra once and I drive replicas once in a while along with various Healey "conversions"..

Straight line acceleration and cornering are not allways mutualy exclussive... even in such antiques with live axels... You do have to drive differently....They require more actual "driving"  you drive in fast and accelerate out... lots of body english and tire hystrionics.. you may have to brake earlier and make up for it coming out... It's simply a different way and getting to be a lost art.   Driving a new vette is much easier and they will do better most of the time even with a mediocre driver but.... when one of those antiques get's in the groove... It's something to watch.... looks like the guy is racing or something.

Yeah but we can drive to another state and back before you get the old American V8 warmed up and out of park.   You're correct though you can tow a camper trailer much further than I can! :)

I live in the land of trucks, big trucks, $50K+ trucks, doolie's, etc most of which will never see a gravel road!  Gotta love Texas!

450 hp and 90" wheelbase... over the years the Healey and I have come to an understanding...  It is trying to kill me and I must be vigilante.    The car is worse than a porche even... It is really much like a ferral cat.  Still.... I have allways been able to figure out which one was mine in a parking lot.
