I recently added 512MB of ram (pc133) to my system....
I had to remove it because everytime i used the mic or had radio traffic, my screen would "FREEZE"
After removing it, everything worked fine....
anyone know why? I installed the proper memory, i had 256 already.......just upping the system.
by the way, it was a PNY product.....
ideas ideas?

list your specs what OS are you running? If win 98 running more than or at 512 I "heard" that the OS is not made to or does not support that amount of ram. I'll look for more info and will check back for system specs :)

Windows 98 just wont support more than 512 ram. At least I couldnt get mine to be stable. There were several fixes for the problem on windows site but none fixed it for me & after reading alot of bbs post I figured it just wont work.
Mine works ok with 512 in.

Roger that! After asking around and cking with others, it seems that Win98SE just doesnt support anything over 512MBRAM
wierd...
but oh well

I have 3 'puters, two with Win XP Pro and my old system with WIN 98. I highly suggest Win XP, its been very pain free and stable for me these last few months.

first things first make sure when you put the 512 chip in its in the 1st slot (biggest chip 1st slot alway)
ild suggest that you try it with just the 512 (in the 1st slot ) then it thats fine try adding the other one (2nd slot) and see what happens!
It it doesnt work with both atleast your using the 512 chip
I had a crappy AOpen board and had 2X256's and 1 x128 and mine (with 98) worked fine.

I run a Win98 system with 768MB RAM... works fine.
The people having problems may not have their computers and BIOS properly setup.

'zactly, we used to use win98 with more than 512mb ram.
I'd go with 2000 or XP though.. much more stable.

Is it safe to dowload XP through Kazaa? anyone know?
I can't believe you asked about downloading an operating system from kazaa... I'm sorry, you may be a nice guy (I don't know you) but that's gotta be close to the stupidest, most irresponsible question possible in a public online forum.
Even if someone were to give you a "straight" answer, chances are they'd deliberately steer you to a known-bad virus infested fake guaranteed to erase your hard drive after setting your video refresh rate to 500hz so your monitor catches fire while your hard drive wipes itself... Yes, such versions exist, and they exist for the sole purpose of punishing people who feel they have the right to steal commercial software for any reason.
That's just a practical repercussions of your question. The moral foundation behind such a question is a different thing entirely, and as much as I hate microsoft, my moral compass tells me it's wrong (perhaps even evil) for someone to steal something especially when it results in higher prices for everyone else, me included. That is a selfish basis for a moral judgement on my part, but I'm being as honest as I can since you quite honestly implied that if you could safely get away with it, you planned on stealing a copy of Microsoft Windows XP (tm blah blah).
I despise Microsoft's policies as much as anyone else, but many of those policies (and pricing structures) that I despise are a direct result of people who think they deserve a free ride. That places the cause of my dissatisfaction squarely on the shoulders of those who have driven Micro$oft to insane lengths to fight piracy and price gouge to get back revenue lost to piracy. Now imagine how restrained this response is when compared to how I (and many others) really feel about software pirates.
I suggest you mow some lawns, wash some cars, or eat less food until you can afford a legitimate, licensed copy. A helpful hint is that some hardware purchases like hard drives or motherboards may entitle you to a reduced-price OEM license of windows.
I also suggest you make an attempt to convince HTC that you didn't really mean it, since they make a living in the software industry and might view piracy in the same light as they do online game cheating...

Thanks for the lecture on honesty, but your right, you dont know me, and as for most people in this world, it was an honest question.
As for you claim on "cheating" I suggest you compare stats to those in the tech industry who whatever who have never once sat in a cockpit, yet seem to survive 500 rounds at convergance and live to "warp" about it. LOL
No Im not offended, I appreciate your reply...but as I mentioned above...it was just a question. Kazaa was something your own "senior" members pointed in my direction.
As to your statement about security and public forums....I think you need to read through some "other" sections of this forum.
I will not feel shameful or apologize for a simple honest question in a forum.
I will not argue with you on this issue, unlike others, I make an honest living, and was looking for help and suggestions on Issues Im not aware of....
Not all of us sit on a Computer all day and live the tech life. There are other things in this world that make a difference.
