Title: Cool Jug pics (Tarheel Hal) and a Spitty
Post by: Regurge on January 08, 2003, 09:15:13 PM
These are all from the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, TX. They moved the jug and spit outside so I got to take these purty pictures. They did a run up on the spit (just before I got there, arrrgh!) so there was always people around it. Tough to get good pics with em in the way. Tarheel Hal was off next to a skyraider with noone around.

I have high res versions (good for desktops) if anyone wants em.

I agree with Frenchy, the jug is a serious plane and doesnt deserve this punishment

Ok yeah, I never liked that paint (Interestingly its actually painted silver, guess the natural aluminum doesnt look so good after 60 years). But its still such a sweet plane, and I'd never been that close to one before.

Ramzey I have a side profile shot of the spit with some guys standing next to it. Its the full size version (~900kb) so I can't post it here but I can email it if you want.

wow, I didn't know Tarheel Hal lived in Galveston.  Or did it just fly south for the winter?  I gotta make a trip to that museum....

That little museum is really a jem, isn't it? They host one of the coolest airshows around every Fall, IMO. Not as many people show up, as do at the Wings over Houston show, so you can get up and personal to the planes. I live and work in the Houston area. How did you happen to be at the L/S museum? Did you make a special trip for a show?

BTW, I'd love to have the hi-res pics.

Thanks for sharing.
