Title: Just a reminder about jb79
Post by: JB42 on January 10, 2003, 06:43:02 PM
I would like to remind everyone that jb79 is not part of the III/Jabostaffel and has no invovlement, affiliation nor our support. Unfortunantly I have to go around all the boards and post this, but I want to make sure this point is clear.

Also, HiTech, he is using an unauthorized moniker promoting our squad and webpage. Please remove that as he does not have my permission to do so. Thank You.

I really don't care much about what he says, but he has affixed our name and webpage to his posts. That is uncalled for, Bubba.

As someone said earlier in country channel (Elfie, maybe?), Jb79 is the poster boy for permasquelch.

Yeah JB 42, get a life. What's the big deal? Feeling inferior because your virtual squadron doesn't have as many 'Squad Sauna Nights' as 'VMF-323'?

wulfie

p.s. Rip1 and all non-curvalish 'VMF' types - you know I respect you all. Just trying to make a point with a pertinent example. I'll change my sig data in a couple of hours. :)

Curval, just so that p.s. isn't misunderstood I generally respect you/your opinions as well. JB 42 has a very valid point/reason in this case is all. :)

I can see you have a little problem JB42.  I hope it gets worked out for ya.  Dont "lighten up" on it until it is fixed.

You dont want a bad apple pretending to represent your squad.

I would like it to be known that SOB does not represent the interests of the Fat Drunk Bastards. The rest of us are not overtly gay as he is. Furthermore, his diatribes across this bulletin board in no way reflect our beliefs or values. Thank you.

p.s. I used a big word.

JB42,

You have the right to have him remove whatever he is doing with your squad.  Nuf Said.

Anyone know why he is doing this?  Was he once a member?

Okay who hasn't made make mistakes in life in thier  teen years.
The Kid is inmature and is just copying alot of us. In what he hears and what he types, He is trying to fit in and hasn't learned yet" just be yourself"

Now as for name,If hiTech can Give him his perks and change his name then he should. But if HE has to lose all his perks to change his name its not fair for anyone to force him to.

JB79 this Would do you a world fo good and could give you a fresh start in arena, where you can learn from you mistakes you have made in here in the past. I only say you should change becaus eof you past transgressions. ( If you want to know what I mean just ask and I'll write to you) I will not post here to flame you anymore than you have been. I can see The Jb's reason for wanting your name changed, But I think You will grow out of it in time.

Now as for the jb's.. Did You ask JB79 to change name politely, and give him reasons why? If not you shouldv'e done so before making this post.

But I do understand Your frustration with him. I do see alot asking you if he is in squad. And he does make comments that can harm your squad if they think he is in.

I remember alot asking If AKAK was in the AK squad. so really not harmful unless he's telling others he is in your squad. Akak I used your name because it was first one that came to mind.

As long as JB79 doesn't claim to be in III/Jabostaffel , then there is no real reason for him to change his CPID..err handle.  When I first started, I had some of the AK members asking me to change my handle but since I never have nor will claim to be a member of the AK's there was no real reason for me to change my name.  Same should apply to JB79.

This is why 42 is making a statement about jb79, I couldn't get it to quote correctly, so I copied and pasted one of his statements.
However, you can get the idea, and I agree with AKAK, you can chose any handle, but when you identify yourself with a squad that you are not a part of then there is a problem.
Use search and look up jabo79, everyone of his post that he made just one day before the writing of this, he shows himself to be a member of our squad, when he is not.

Title: Poster child
Post by: TheflyingElk on January 11, 2003, 11:18:06 AM
I was the one who coined the the phrase JB79 is the Poster Child for perma squelch and I stand by it today, I can understand having to deal with a growing child I have two of my own, but this little so-called inmature little (place flame of choice here) has gone way over the top, he has been jumping countries and jumping squads, harrassing squad CO's including mine, ranting and raving on ch1 and country ch, name calling other player and teammates. If it was my choice I would take his modem and pitch it out in a snow bank, until he could learn respect for other people in the virtual world or the real world, thats what I would do, but alas I am but a humble pilot in the virtual world of AH, so I must be content to make my opinion heard but as we all know opinions are like everybody has one.
Be careful of the ANTLERS I just washed them

Think it was almost 3 months ago I used "poster child for perma-squelch" in regards to bkhawk. But if the shoe fits for jb79, he can walk in it too.

There is no reason he should be permitted to use any squads name or info if he is not a member of that squad.
Hopefully proof of these accusations will be provided, appropriate steps will be taken (banned or  suspended comes to mind), & the diciplinary actions will discourage future immature subjects from following suit. Hopefully.

There used to be some poor pathetic loser type guy that  immitated our squad name, he called it  phlyin sirkus.  We mostly ignored him, occasionally pointed & laffed at him. .... been a while since ive seen him. Had almost forgotten about that.

It's simple... First, I squelch JB79. Then, I squelch everyone else on channel 1 that's squeaking about JB79.

Gives me something to do while I'm climbing up to altitude. :)

yes we have ....
the unfortunate thing about all this is we need to keep monitering what he does. this has been going on for over a month almost. he "withdrew" from the squad saying he wanted to fly planes other than LW only (thats part of being in our squad). i personally heve chosen to ignore him in the main arena, and go on with my flying.

sadly the most recent post by him that JB66 quoted struck a nerve. on our website we promote the Rooks and make it clear we fly for them exclusivly. our fellow rooks need to know we are still loyal.

when his behavior on the message board disrupts MY gameplay because my countrymates dont trust me... something needs to be done.

i have sent a very polite email to support@hitechcreations.com asking for advise in this matter... thats all i can do for now.

on a more humerous note... this sounds a teeny bit like the time the MAW's roger wilco channel got hacked or whatever... how was that resolved? did they juat change channels or something?

There is no need for any disciplinary actions unless JB79 violated TOS.  The best way to resolve this matter would be for HiTech just to reset his CPID..err handle.

well if you ask me its a dumb idea having an entire squads names only dicernable by a number.

I thought there was only one JB## for ages until i saw 2 at the same time and realised they were a squad.

Jb79 hasnt said anything so out of line to deserve singling out from what ive heard so I fail to see the reason for the big hooha this is generating.what has he done? Hes joined missions and messed around a bit but its hardly anything terrible.

Demanding he change his name is a bit much and i dont see how you guys have the right to.

As for him using your squad name, as in if he is trying to claim hes in your squad or he has a similar squad name then i can understand you guys wanting it to stop.

I still suggest however you give yourselves names rather than numbers and that way we might be abl to distinguish between you all and not mistake jb## for jb##.

Hello,
We are not demanding that he change his name, he was asked if he would change his name and he stated that he does not want to, which is fine.
The latest problem is when he post on the boards and is using our squad signature, and that is where we have a problem.
The squad discussed changing our name and it was decided that we remain as we are currently with JBXX as our cpid.
Personally, I think JB79 is a good pilot, he gives check sixes and helps with the fight in which ever area he is flying in, then he'll call somebody a name or harrass somebody, which in turn brings about questions to our squad such as "Hey 42, JB79 just told me to ___________(fill in the blank)", and now we have to take time to explain the JB79 situation that he is not in our squad, or affiliated with us in any way.
Another way to look at it is if he decided to become AK79, then harrass people and do things which cause others to judge the AK squad, based on the experience with one person, who is not a member of the AK squad in the first place.
I am certain that the problem will go away shortly without intervention, just as Dlambda did before.

Well,
That explains alot if he is indeed DLAMBA.  I must say however after feeling the full frontal assault from the DLAMBA persona ....the JB79 is a bit tamer!  Perhaps he has learned a bit about how to deal with people.

I have been up in the day the past week or so and to be honest, JB79 is pretty good about giving SITREPS, Check6's, and generally helping out the cause.

If he has learned how to play well with others then I vote we give him a third chance.

Remember he's not as "mature" as most of us are...<----read sarcasm here.

I do however agree with the JB squadron.  He needs to stop posting using their signature block.  That is wrong.

AND until he does so.....my tolerance level for him drops and drops.

SO JABO79....please use your own signature block....keep flying nice....dont bash up guys....try to find a niche in the game and stick with it.....and guys will soon forget that you harrassed the hell out of them and will begin to respect you for the good pilot you are.  Until then though....dont expect to be treated fairly.

Look, I know it's hard, but most of you are fat, balding, middle aged men and dLamba/JB79 is an over enthusiastic youngster. < I hope you all are laughing  =o[ >

Think back to your playground days. There was always the kid who wasn't accepted (probably couldn't play well or was too young) who would grab the ball and run away. This sounds like JB79.

On the playground some may have thrown rocks at him, but you old farts should know how to best treat a young guy. I've seen how some say some pretty lewd things to him. I think that's pretty counter productive.

He seems to want to do well. He is very good at calling out contacts and check sixes, and enthusiastic to work with the group. Some here have said he's a pretty good stick. But he sure does chatter a lot!

I don't think you can blame him much for his misconduct and language. Look what he has for an example. He probably doesn't appreciate that the gutter talk on C#1 isn't the accepted way to behave. Perhaps he does this to fit in with you big kids.

I hope the community will take him under their wing and show him the right way. Of course it takes patience, and there will always be jerks out there hounding him, but I think some positive reinforcement may show him that dignaty, self respect, and honor will gain him the respect of those who matter, the vast majority of the AH community.

Hang in there dLamba, do the right things and make this ol' grampa bear proud.

JB79 isn't THAT bad, I mean hes not Sadamn Hussain or something.  He's just a kid having fun online, I think we need to keep this in perspective?  I don't like it when anyone trys to run off a player, that just isn't right.

I will admit, I did think JB79 was part of the JB's for a while - and I guess he really was for a time (a lesson on recruitment practices here somewhere).

Now I think everyone is pretty well straight on this now.  I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over this.

No problem man....we had a "sauna" this weekend and discussed the issue (no, there wasn't any strap-ons present).

If a former squaddie was misbehaving and bring the squad into disrepute we would probably post a similar "be advised" thread.

I have been disciplined for my uncaring and thoughtless post here. (No soup for me...one year).

This will sound like an "Old Git" complaint, but here goes: If I behaved at 13 years of age the way jb79 does, SOMEONE (likely the nearest adult in range) would have smacked me one AND removed privileges, such as access to the tools necessary to participate in my hobby.

Using the excuse he is "just a kid" is ignoring the responsibility we all have to educate kids about just what sort of behaviour is acceptable and what is not. Letting slide because he is a kid is missing the point. IMO of course.
