I've noticed that when calling out map locations for something, people will often give three numbers. "Enemy B-17s at 11.12.4" or something like that. I've figured out that 11.12 is the sector grid (row 11, column 12). Is the 3rd number altitude?

the 9th part of a sector, see numpad for reference.
789
456
123
e.g. a.b.7 is the northwest part of that sector.
a fourth number is the 9th of 9th of a sector, so a.b.7.3 is very close to a.b.5.7.

Thanks ccvi! Makes much more sense than bombers making HQ raids at 4k.

The third number it the position in that sector, and is often referred to as the "keypad" number. For a good explanation of the system, see the Netaces (http://www.netaces.org/ahradar/radarmap.html#title) website..... :)

Good ol' netaces. Of course it's there somewhere.
Thanks Flossy!

If you click on the link in my post, it will take you to the actual page with it on..... that's why I posted slightly later than ccvi - I was looking for it myself to get the exact URL for you. :)

Clicked it, read it the first time you posted it Flossy. Just saying that there's a lot of info on netaces... it's a little overwhelming sometimes when trying to get a specific question answered.
Thanks for finding it for me.

FYI, I'm re-doing the table of contents page into more of a "site map" type so it should be a bit easier to find things there.

Great site you have there, Hammer! Think I should get commission for promoting it so much! :D Seriously, though, it is such a good resource for all aspects of Aces High, which I bookmarked some time ago and often refer to myself as well as passing on links to other players. :)

Agreed, Hammer, great site. I remember using it when I was first learning AH. Haven't used it in a while, but after looking around a bit again, I can see there's a lot of good advanced info too. I'll probably be doing a lot of Netaces reading in the next few days.
