Maurice Gibb... dead at 53 of heart failure.
-
2/3's... Andy Gibb died years ago...
-
I dont think Andy was a member.
-
Andy Gibb was never part of the Bee Gees... if he was, he would have been #4.
-
Well, at least you know what a raving "Bee Gees" fan I was. ;)
-
Yeah... you've got that going for ya. :)
I can't say I've ever owned a Bee Gees album. Never was a real big fan, but everyone around me seemed to be.
My twin brother wore out an eight track copy of Saturday Night Fever.
-
From both an artistic and engineering point of view, the Brothers Gibb made some damned fine music.
Was sorry to hear of such a departure but the man had been looking a bit frail these past few years...
Nice legacy though.......
Stayin alive, stayin alive....ooh ooh ooh ohh staying alive, stayin alive......stayin ali-i-i-ive!

In the immortal words of Johnny Fever-- "I hate disco".
-
Bee Gees were a great band that wrote some pretty good songs.
I wouldn't lump them into a disco catagory.
-
1/2 of the Beatles are gone.........

1/4 of the Greatful Dead...

What on earth are you talking about? This sounds perfectly valid to me, after all, my twin brother used to mope around listening to depeche mode all day long in 1988.

jest
\Jest\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. Jested; p. pr. & vb. n. Jesting.] 1. To take part in a merrymaking; -- especially, to act in a mask or interlude. [Obs.] --Shak.
2. To make merriment by words or actions; to joke; to make light of anything.
He jests at scars that never felt a wound. --Shak.
Syn: To joke; sport; rally.
Usage: To Jest, Joke. One jests in order to make others laugh; one jokes to please himself. A jest is usually at the expense of another, and is often ill-natured; a joke is a sportive sally designed to promote good humor without wounding the feelings of its object. ``Jests are, therefore, seldom harmless; jokes frequently allowable. The most serious subject may be degraded by being turned into a jest.'' --Crabb.
:p Relax.....
-
Um..... LePaul, I don't have a twin brother. I was joking.
You see, the behavior I was talking about was not the behavior of my "twin" brother, but, as you suggest with Sandman, my own behavior that I would rather explain away.
Hope that helps.

lets all mourn the death of the leader of the beegees (maurice gibb):D
-
Mickey Finn, drummer for TRex died the same day. Also of note famed blues harp player Richard Newell of my home town, Hamilton Ontario passed on the same Sunday. King Biscuit Boy as he was known played with Ronnie Hawkins as well as a legion of other blues legends like himself. A rough weekend for Rock and Roll.
R.I.P.
-
What happened to Micky Johnny? I'm an old TRex fanatic...named my son Marc, wanted his middle name to be Bolan but his mother hogged up on that.
Back to the BeeGees, they did have a long and successful career before disco and wrote many, many great songs. Also FWIW, they didn't choose disco...disco chose them.
-
Re: Mickey
Exact cause not announced yet but liver problems were recently an issue.
All I know for now.
-
I just cant stand disco, no offense to the Gibbs. They CHOSE money which meant disco at that time. Staying Alive...ughh
-
Listening to Slider right now by TRex. Marc Bolen was awesome. I can still remember being 5 years old in 1978 and telling my brother to throw Slider on the truntable, right to Track 8, Telegram Sam. The memories.
I personally could care less about the Grateful Dead. Don't own a single record, tape, cd, dvd, 8 track, minidisc, dat or reel-to-reel of them.
Mickey. From one drummer to another.
