Not a Whine. Not a troll. Just a question.
There have been some very impressive numbers in the Rookland of late. I was wondering if one of the larger squads flipped, or if there was a consorted effort by numerous smaller squads to help out the Rooks.
I recal reading not a month ago about how poor the rooks were, and I was wondering what caused the sudden shift.

Shhhhhhhhhh!
I'm getting 163's for 10 perks :D

The Shillelagh Squadron officially migrated with the start of the new tour, but some of us had already come over before then for a number of reasons:
(a) there's a target-rich environment everywhere Rooks turn;
(b) months of being on the receiving end of major smack-down had made for a serious corps of experienced pilots. Almost everyone flying Rook knew their business, and could handle themselves in combat quite well - probably a result of being outnumbered month-in and month-out;
(c) there's a certain glory in flying for the underdog, kind of like the spirit of the AVG in China: going up against a superior foe and charging into the fight with inferior numbers;
(d) flying for Rooks was more fun than flying for Bishops. We prefer to earn our perk points the old-fashioned way. (John Houseman voice ON) "We earn them." )John Houseman voice OFF);
(e) no worries about fighting with other Rooks for kills over a capped enemy airbase like hyenas feasting on a zebra carcass because Rooks hardly ever had enough pilots get a raid going against an enemy airbase in the first place; and finally;
(f) cheap F4U-1Cs.
What we hadn't counted on was the fact that flying for Rooks would become cool with the rest of the AH community. I guess a lot of other pilots wanted to be as cool as the Shills.
:D

if im not mistaken 262's were 500+ perks last night just before the reset LOLOOLOL!!!

We won a reset?
What country got smacked down?
-
Yeah, the funny part is that we were getting restless before the new sidebalancing system. I think that helped push us over the fence, and it looks like there were others that came over as well. Should be interesting to see how things shake out after a few months.

It's the Knight's turn in the barrel. I haven't been on once in the last few weeks when we weren't outnumbered by the bish and had 2:3 odds (or worse) against the rooks.
That's not to say the numbers always look like that, just when I've been there. I must say my flying has improved, and the last dregs of non-dweebdom have been swept away. I'll pretty much fly anything that suits me and if you don't like it, you can come shoot me down :)
Rooks; I'm glad to see you're finally out of the basement.

this is the third night in a row for the rooks to win the reset :) (not sure if you were aware of that) :)

the perk modifier should help limit each sides turn in the barrel. I switched to Rook because I wanted the bad odds situation of a couple weeks ago. Then as luck would have it the rooks suddenly enjoy prosperity...how annoying :)

No, I wasn't. When I was logged on, the number of bases was always somewhat even, so either I was logging on just after the reset or I was logging on at the mid-point of our fantastic come-back to victory!

Nicer Sheeps?

cause many many many many many people felt SORRY for em:p
they will get the rooks numbers up....but not for long....they will soon understand the nature of bein a rook
soon they will be EXPERTS at cherry pickin
soon they will be EXPERTS at BORING tactics
soon they will be EXPERTS at being INDIVIDUALS
they will soon discover that flyin alone is not good:p
-
You've heard of Sunday drivers? The rooks are Sunday flyers and out in droves on Sunday.
-
Its good the rooks are getting the extra numbers.
They need 'em, since at any given moment 2/3's of them are running away.

Actually its a good questions. I have had friends that fly Bishops and Knights ask me several times if we Rooks were running an RJO when we were not.
Rook numbers have definitely picked up .. last night we had 270+ on. Now as for the reasons why:
1) RJO squads are trying a few different
things operationally. Which I think has
re-invigorated individual squad's
attendance.
I know my squad is now fielding more
pilots on a consistent basis per night.
At our low point we went from about 5 pilots
on every night to now about 8-10. If the other
RJO squads also have a 50% improvement in
attendance that is a fair bit.
2) Rook squads that left and had been flying
other countries came back. We had 1 large
squad and 2 medium to large squads come
back.
3) We had other squads such as the Shills switch.
I am not sure about every night but I can now say that all of this has gotten the Rooks out of the bucket and that at least 2 nights a week we seem to have dominant numbers. On the other nights we now seem to be competitive and close to even numbers, even numbers, or a a few more than even.

LOL Sixpence...!
I know EXACTLY where you're coming from
I'm gettin' Tigers for 17 points!
Now I LIKE being a Knight!
The perk vehicle fire sale helps take the sting out of constantly getting smacked down. ;)

The tards jump ship when they start to lose. Any country which has a large lead ends up with 60+ outsiders.

What's a RJO squad?
A RJO Squad is any squad that participates in Rook Joint Operations, Thus the name RJO.
We have a Core Group that has been doing these Joint Ops for quite along time now, and we have new squads joining in as time clicks on.
We basicly work the majority of the country as a team for a night.
The RJO was born out of Joint Ops that the CAF, Nightmares and others used to do joint ops back in B-land in AW. When The CAF and NightMares made the Permanete move to AH, We linked up and started doing Ops together. We grabbed other squads we knew and formed larger ops. It just began to grow, until the list of squads has gotten quite large.
There is no Leader of the RJO, But BFD, GhostDancer and Myself have been instrumental in its creation and continue to keep it loosely organised. We encourage all our squads to step up and take the lead for a night. Its pretty awsome what a small squad of a handful of guys can do when in command of a couple hundred pilots.
If you have more questions, feel free to direct them to Ghostdancer (GhstDncr), Dawg (BFD) or Myself (GrimmCAF)

Well VF-17 had started flying in Rook land back in December and then I moved us back into Knight land where things were comfortable and squadrons were known.
I will say that my first extended time in Rook land was nice to see a good bunch of coordination between the various squadrons. I can also say that VF-17 will be back in Rook land again in the not to distant future both as an aggressor and as friendly. But that last part usually will not happen until the Rooks are on the way out as a "popular" country to fly for in the MA.
-
With Me262s at 55 perks and Tigers at 15 perks last night, I don't care how many Rookies there now are, I say bring on some more there aren't enough! Hell, I hope this population boom hits the Bishops as well, maybe it will drive the Me262 cost down even more.
Ack-Ack

hehehe....seems that this kind of post always happens on Mondays...
Sunday is the day when all the Rooks wifes are in either a good and giving mood or they just let us fly to keep us outa their hair.
I gaff tape < 200mph tape, NOT duct tape > my wife to a chair and make her watch football while I'm flying on Sundays...I let her up to get me beer and munchies when needed but getting killed because of her need for a 'personal comfort' break is crossing the line!
-
even though the perk multiplier makes it hard for us rooks to get those uber-262's i still LOVE the way its working!
a huge <<>> to HiTech and the HTC staff for coming up with this 1.!!!
unlike posts in the bast about getting "gang-banged" it has become a "please keep your countries #'s high" :D it is truly a reversal from what it was.
i hope you all notice how good this is working and give credit to HTC for doing a great thing for the Main arena.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah....
It's a wonderful world, it's a wonderful life.

I actually fly perk planes now. It's a wierd psychological bug I have about "spending" perks, LOL. Like I worked for them in the first place, or I could spend them on the mortgage or something. Yet a 20 pt Spit 14 or tempest and it's time to fly.

Nice to see the Rookies with numbers.

I am intrigued. The Shills don't really have a squad night other than TOD and whatever we throw together in the MA after our glorious TOD victories (or ignominious defeat, followed by much gnashing of teeth and thirsting for the blood of our enemies).
On any given weeknight, there's usually 2 or 3 Shills logged on, doing their own thing, getting some practice in for TOD or whatnot.
RJO might be something worth considering. Let me get back to you on that, assuming you're looking for pilots.

goFaster,
I tried to get a private to you, but it wouldnt let me...
If you see this shoot me an Email...
GrimmRP@Centurytel.net
I had something I wanted to run by you...

I switched to Rooks a few months due to the fact that Rooks had very low numbers.
This means that there are more targets for me to shoot down. :D
I formed a new squad last week called the SouthLand Eagles .au
So watch out!
-
I would PERSONALLY like to thank Whels for joining the Rooks a couple of months back. It has been a priviledge flying with you. Popeye, same to you too
. :)
Puck. I am too (on your last sentence). I think it is safe to say that most people hate to lose. But we had a winless streak going. Tempers flared, things happened, and we were able to get out of the quagmire.
Rooks.
I will hold this post in terms of sheer class. No gripes, whines, tirades, wtc.

Just wanted to publicly announce that I'm an idiot and didn't read my email before logging onto the MA. Spent the night "chasing the front" because I forgot to get coordinated. Doh!
I forwarded the info on to the rest of the guys, as a sample so they could get an idea of what's going on. We're doing TOD tonight and I should get a feel for what everyone else wants to do next time around.
Gotta say, it was a blast jumping from jabo to panzer to fleet defense and back, and having support each time.

It's pretty boring on the east coast this time of year.
Although I haven't been playing very much anymore, (Been X-Box'n my brains out) I would guess that the cold weather is keeping more U.S. players at home.
Just a thought.

I was born a Rook.
Always been a Rook.
Always gonna be a Rook.
Probably gonna die a Rook.
I think the Rook sheep are cuter, and most nights the sweet smellen ones don't cost nearly so much!
I guess you could say I was a dyed in the wool ROOK!
-
LOL Ductape!
Again....TIGER SQUADRON...Once a Rook always a Rook!
Like flying for this country and always will.......
PS the sheep are better in ROOKLAND!:p
