...would be who?
Tom Hanks
Bob Hope
Can't make up my mind on this one.

Thats definately a personal taste thing I would imagine...I personally LOVED Seinfeld when I saw him on his stand up comedy routine as he traveled the country, but once he was on his show, he just wasn't as funny to me....
Don Rickles is one of my all time favorites.
-
Dudley Moore and then, by association, Peter Cook.
There is no-one on the planet who can hold a candle to Cook. As Micael Palin says:
"Cook was consistently the funniest man in the room."
Sorely missed.
-
Stifler from american pie, that kid cracks me up.
The problem with many comedians is they have a certain style and stick with it, problem is that style gets old fairly quickly.
Richard Pryor
Gene Wilder
-
Robin Williams
very close second: David Letterman
-
IMHO
it's a toss up.
Redd Foxx or Rodney Dangerfield ..
-
Lenny Bruce
Red Skelton
Bob Newhart
-
Jack Benney pioneered television comedy skits.
Milton Berle pioneered television comedy shows.
Bob Hope was the master stage comedy.
Robin Williams was the master of improv.
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were the masters of comedy duos.
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis pioneered mixing comedy and music in a comedy duo.
I'm not sure who the best was.

Ok, I've decided the best comedian is Airhead, for his creative use of a Warbirds posting from the last WB convention in Pensacola, when Borg was accused of shooting a photo up another pilot's girlfriend's skirt, and the ensuing comedic tragedy that followed the incident. Great stuff!
"If WB goes down I sincerely hope you AH old timers treat the WB refugees better than you treated us Air Warrior refugees. Many a time I had to take long walks along the beach with other AW pilots, trying to calm each others' nerves and console each other, while you Aces High guys enjoyed yourselves in the Main Arena." --Airhead

Barbara Streisand.

Too hard to pick a favorite but Billy Crystal is in the running.
-
peter sellers
belushi
kennison
-
Don't forget Andy Kaufman....
remember when he was challenging all those women to wrestle him in the ring? :D
-
If you're talking strictly holloywood actor/comedian Peter Sellers is the first name that springs to mind.
Charon
-
I've gotta go with Buddy Hackett. His story telling is so firkin' funny! Saw him in Lost Wages a while back.

John Candy...loved him in Uncle Buck
Leslie Neilson...Airplane, etc
I initially wasnt a big Ray Romano fan, but as his series has grown, i like him a lot. Same for Tim there from Home Improvement. Some comedians floursih on TV...some do not (i.e. Jeff Foxworthy)

He was a genius. Most didn't understand him.

Nobody understood Andy. There's just those that think they did.

Dave Chappelle.

Robin williams is a thief, he steals most of his routine.
Best comic....Joe Rogan.....seen his stuff several times. Wife thought I didn't like his stuff at one show cause I wasn't laughing. I told her I couldn't breath from all the laughing.
Dave chapelle is really funny to, probably 2nd on the list of funny.
damn left out chris farley, now thats funny.
-
I find that a little bit of Jim Carey goes a long way. He's a bit "over the top" a lot of the time.
I always thought Cary Grant was a very talented light-comic in some of his movies.

Phew, no votes for Bob Saget of the ole American's Funniest Home Video's host-fame and Full House. Man, I groaned so much whenever he was on...the other guy...who was also an America's Funniest Home Videos and did the voice of the Jackelope (Fast and fast can be, you'll never catch me!) used to crack me up.
Robin Williams is hilarious, his last HBO special was fabulous
Carrot Top used to be pretty good too...loved his whacky inventions
Martin Lawrence is pretty funny, but with some of the black comedians, they go into picking on whites and that's all ok. We pick on the blacks and good grief, here comes the reparations folks...
-
Dave Chapelle
-
Oh come on, don't forget the classics! Groucho Marx is by far one of the funniest actors in Hollywood history.

Robin Williams last HBO special was definatly funny! I laughed so much I hurt :)
But best comedian of all time would have to be George Carlin.
-
Sam Kinison for stand up...
Actor/comedian... Gotta be Chevy Chase.
-
<-- second post but who gives a ****
you wont believe me but i saw Pauly Shore live right after the MTV stuff faded ... OMFG .. i dmn near wet myself laughing. he's the DIRTYEST comedian i have ever heard.
he actually did a bit about lee press-on nails and a chick who put her finger somewhere unmentionalbe. that was over 10 years ago and i still remember every word it was soo distrubing LOL.

Of the two, I'd say Bob Hope hands down... Next would be Lou Costello and Bob Newhart. (Newhart for his one sided phone shtik)

Just thought of these two;
Mel Blanc
Jack Lemmon
