Okay, I've been driving around for a week with the hard top on. It's 70* out took the hardtop off, and stuck in my office (smiling at the coworkers) and ran my errands....
Who else is enjoying the warm weather! :D

We love El Nino in the Pacific Northwest...record dry month in Oct. Weathers been very mild, and sunny. I had my top down too (Sun roof :) ) Only problem is I have to mow year around during El Nino years. Taken yesterday:

We'll "Pay for it" some how though :( Puget power will jack their rates up, or it will rain for 8 weeks straight..one or the other. :D

Nice car!
Feel fortunate that I haven't started posting my carpeted garage with the 4 ft. BMW logo on the back wall again lately. :D Creamo loves those pictures. :)

Speaking of nice weather.. How come I don't see many BMW at autocross events?? I mean we get Vett's, Porsche, Benz's..even a new Mini Cooper S.. I haven't seen BMW in a while..last one I saw was in November and that was a 01' 325i Sedan with M wheels and body kit.
Do they not Autocross well??

Must be location, thats about ALL I see at the local auto X's around here, haven't participated yet though because I use my car for commuting...Auto X is tough on brakes/rubber!
-
Oh come on Rip!!! Mines a daily driver..But mine's like 2000lbs lighter too.. I've got 4 events and 6K on these tires so far and looks like I'll get another 6 or 8K out of them.
Besides brakes are cheap :D

Frick off and die, warm bellybutton :) I'll let you know how it is around April.

You will see more this year. Last year the e46m3 was classed in SS with the Z06, which nothing can touch. This year the e46m3 has been moved to AS where it will be good competition for the Boxster S (which was also moved down) and the C4 vette.
Also, the Z4 3.0i Sport will be in B-Stock with the S2000, 350Z, and base Boxster. I know of at least one National level driver that will be running the Z4 this year.
-
Crow, Yeah I have to agree, I do like the changes in classes so far. Other then me moving up to CSP.. Darn performace upgrades...
But I think I'm going to run with Martin Sports Car club this year...I like their track setup better. That and more fun runs...
-
i love this weather :D a whopping 14 degrees!

I haven't run with Martin since they moved to Palm Bay...but I know that is a nice site.
Are you going to the National Tour in Ft. Myers? I'm thinking about taking the Evolution School and going to the Tour.
I hear you about the mods...I helped out a friend who is trying to field a National level S2000 on a shoe string budget and I bought his CAI, which has now bumped me to ASP. Ah well, it is just for fun anyway...I'm not a National level driver.

Hey MT,
Just checked on the latest update from the NWS:
TONIGHT CLEARING AND COLD. LOW 5 TO 10 ABOVE. WIND CHILL READINGS NEAR 10 BELOW. NORTHWEST WIND 10 TO 20 MPH. FRIDAY SUNNY AND COLD. HIGH IN THE MID 20S. WEST WIND 10 TO 15 MPH. FRIDAY NIGHT MOSTLY CLEAR. LOW AROUND 10. WIND SOUTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH.
Hey, If your folks ever need any assistance, let me know. I have many Firefighter-EMS and Police friends living and working at the lake area. Most owe me a favor or two from the last 20 years.
-
Neg Crow, I'm not a national driver yet... I wish  I just started the season with Martin.. I don't have the time to do Evo.. I wish I did. I'm going to stick Martin with it..theres 4 guys in DSP that run Miata's only :D so I have a fighting chance.
I also know theres talks about Gainesville..to run Karts.. wooo hoo!!!
Also, theres another run in Palm Bay Sunday for SCCA..but its going to be too cold to run I think..
BTW, S2000 Yuck!!

Where in northern Alberta are you Vorticon?

How do you like the S2000 as aposed to the Maita. I drove one myself but thought it was bulky like the Z3 M series. Though you can put the power down with either...

Z3 M series? No such animal. You mean either the Z3 or the M coupe or M3, no?
-
I dunno.. looks like a Z3 on drugs Its the one with @300 Hp.. Now that I took time to find the proper name...its the M Roadster :p

Oh great now you did it.. now he's showing off carpeted grage and his big arse BMW logo on the wall..:D

Ah, didn't know if you were serious or not. Its a BMW 330ci--225 HP, 5 speed manual. $35,500 out the door.
I like the 5'ers too, but this car was just for my commute. Wifes getting a 5'er in 2005, we plan to do a Euro-delivery. She doesn't know it yet, but in 2006, I'm selling this for a Porsche Carrera.:D

$35,500 huh, I would have had to dish out at least $75k for that car, with our taxes  (boy do I wish Norway would get off its high mountain and enter the EU). Anyways, why a Porsche Rip? Why not an M3 or even an M5?
(btw. the 3-series is too small for me. If you've ever seen Mr. Bean in his Mini Morris, you get the picture :D)
I considered the M3 first, actually have a savings account set aside for it. Then the M3 engines were blowing left and right, and Bangle, the chief designer is beginning to pork designs IMO, so who knows what the M3 will be in 2005? Its still not out of the question. The M5 is too expensive, and for the same money, you can get a nice 911. So, jury's still out, but today I favor the 911 over the M3 and the M5. If moneys an issue, then the M3 will probably be my next car...if not an issue, then the 911 or the M5.
How tall are you? I'm 6'1" 205 lbs. and I fit the 3 series very comfortably. The back seat is what sold me, in the 2-door version, two large adults can sit in the back comfortably with leg room, and its easy to get in and out of...the front seats not only move forward, but up and forward, giving you lots of room to get in the back. I had to buy a vehicle with a "useable" backseat since I have two boys.

Thank You.
Dad is gonna be 79 this year, but he still chops his wood and is constantly working on his house. He put in a cement walkway a couple months ago, and complained to me that lugging those sacks of cement made him tired. He's doing fine. His wife is 55 :D .
They are still one of the few year round residents on their little finger of the lake.

The S2k is a blast. It is definitely bigger than the Miata. I had an E36M3 along with the Miata and the S2k is 1 inch wider and only 1 ft shorter than the M3.
But to me the feel of the S2k and the Miata are almost identical. Both have laser sharp steering (2.4 lock-to-lock on the Honda and 2.7 on the Mazda). Both have extremely short shift gates. Both have almost no body roll. Both have low torque, which begs for high RPM. The Honda is a whopping 500lb heavier than my '92 Miata though. But it has enough tire and chassis stiffness to where I really don't notice it. My dad still has his BRG SE, so I get to compare them when I go home for the holidays.
Around town I shift well below VTEC and the acceleration and handling feels just like my old Miata. But if I start to feel naughty, VTEC is only a jab of the accelerator away. :D
I think that is what I like best about the car...I can have as much fun driving it around town as I did with the Miata, but if I want to, I can go as fast as the e36m3. The M3 wasn't fun until I was going waaay faster than I should in traffic. ;)
I've driven a couple of M-Roadsters and the new Z4...now those feel as heavy as they are and are torque monsters.

Yeah...I read yesterday that Olso 3rd most expensive city in the world to live and the most expensive in Europe! What is up with that??

Well Rip, I'm 6'5" and about 225-230 lbs. Hey even the 5-series is a bit small for me, hardly any legroom in the back seat when I'm driving. ;) Next up is prolly a 730i or 740i e38 late '90s or 2000.
My dream BMW (which might come true ;)) is an Calypso red 850Ci or 850Cia late '90s. That must be the most beautiful BMW ever! (heard they're expensive to keep on the road though)
Ah, now I see why the 3'er would be too small!
Gscholz, thats MY dream car too! I even have a model of the 850 on my desk! The only problem is finding one with reasonably low milege driven by an old white haired guy :)
I do detailing as a hobby, usually for friends and what not for a small fee. Here's my oldest son helping out. :)

Nice looking wheels! And you have the "unhaltered" version (Euro's get the better engines, US has to govenor everything that goes over 128 MPH)
-
What u guys think when u parking err driving ur rolling cupholders over the highway.
hehe :D
-
I don't drink coffee (well, I did at the Con, but that was for Hangover purposes :D) and I don't drink pop/soda...so, in essence, I DON'T USE THE CUP HOLDER! :D
-
Er, Gscholtz, I meant the whole car (wheels) but them rims are nice too! :)

Oh, there's another guy in the MA called Hajo. He's not on the boards often. Great guy!! He has a Z3 but keeps it garaged in the winter time (Don't blame him where he lives, its cold/snow in the Midwest in the US)but I still have to give him crap all the time for storing it...if you ever see him just private channel him and ask him where he got the nickname "Garage Queen" :D
-
Thats okay..I don't mind hte Hijack its friday..next week There be something new :D Or I'll just Hijack one of Rip's F4u's
-
To get back on track, I have to say that others I've talked to LOVE the Miata for AutoX..what do they weigh? 2200 lbs?!
-
My '92 Miata tipped the scales at just under 2100lb in full autox trim. The newer ones are in the mid 2300lb range.
-
Yeah like crow says.. the newer ones weight the most.. My 02 weights about 2300lbs more then the 99's (2100) due a new motor. And a few other tweeks..Like I have VVTi pre 01' had non-VVTi motors, tho it doesn't give the car more power say for instance Honda in the S2000.. their VVT help's. We get a more fuller power band to it's 7200 rev limiter.. which I have no second thoughts of hitting :D
-
just wanted some American muscle in here:)(http://frontc5.jpg)

arrrgh i know this is off topic, but how do you post a picture?
thanks
