Title: O'Club freedom?
Post by: Terror on January 16, 2003, 12:14:20 PM
I thought the O'Club was the place for free thinking and un-moderated posting.  But I see the censorship is spilling over onto this board too.  I can understand the locked threads over in the other boards due to off-topic posts or just plain rudeness, but the O'Club was where I thought we could post our opinions, regardless of delivery or content, and not be trounced on by a moderator's opinion of right or wrong....

I guess I was a bit delusional.....

Oh well, I guess it's a crime to post any opinions about banned users.......

Talking about people behind thier backs serves no purpose, other than to incite speculations and fuel angst.

If you want to talk about someone behind thier backs, there are a lot of other places you can go.  It's not welcome here.

There are limits everywhere. The last locked thread is the first in ages - I think Skuzzy thought Eagl was being bashed and since he can't answer back it would be unfair for it to continue.

I don't expect the O'Club to be a free-for-all.  It still has "HiTechCreations" in the URL.  What makes you think that HTC wants to host a BBS that contains a forum where some of the content would cast a negative light on the company?

Actually Dowding, it was going in that direction with the last post before I locked it.

Edit:  Sorry Dowding.  It was Animal's post that was pointing the thread in the wrong direction.  You got yours squeezed in while I was writting mine response.

Skuzzy - mine was the last post and I was not bashing Eagl. Please read the quote of Animal I wrote - if you look I added "while wailing with his guitar". I was just doing a lame ninja joke. :) There was nothing personal against Eagl.

Just saw your :)

This locked thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75955) is the so called bashing?  It looks more like praise and a light hearted jab at the recent news of the "drug" using AF pilots.  (Using government issued amphetamines to stay alert on long missions.)  Hell, there are lots of "wrong" things being posted on this board.  A thread with opinions about a banned user is worth being censored compared to the other "wrong" things that get posted here?  hehe... ok....

My opinion on eagl's banning?  (Of course, no one really cares...)  Kinda bogus really.  The guy just had some strong opinions about AH that HTC did not want the larger majority of their customer base to see.  Easiest solution.  Ban the guy with the opinion and keep the opinion outta of the eyes of the majority.  eagl could have been a lot more diplomatic about how he presented his opinions, but that doesn't warrant completely silencing his thoughts.  What it comes down to, though, is HTC owns this board, the equipment, and the bandwidth, so can do whatever they see fit.  Period.

I think you've answered any questions you may have had.

Think about it. If you eat at a restaurant and you decide the service was crap and the food even worse, you can complain and refuse to pay your bill. You then leave. What you don't do is return and reiterate your point in a less than diplomatic manner, while not buying anything else from the restaurant. Behaviour of that kind, to most people, would be considered rude.

Terror, I don't agree. And no, I'm NOT a fanboy. HTC has no obligation to tolorate someone who is a constant stream of negativity aimed towards the game because you're sounding off on his dime. These bbs are here to help and PROMOTE Aces High, not provide a forum for someone who has a grudge against HTC. Oh, and personally I like and respect Eagl.

And with that post Terror, you just filled a bucket full of speculation with absolutely no point to it, other than to spread said speculation and create exactly what I said would be created in that locked thread.

You, nor anyone else, has any idea what transpired between eagl and HT, and it is none of your nor my business.

And you are right.  No one cares about your opinion on what happened, which you alaready knew, but you went ahead and posted it anyways.
