Yes, that's right, I'm bored, and I've got a few bucks to piss away!
So, this tour, I will send a Paypal for $16.00 to whoever is ranked the best fighter pilot.
Question is...how do I judge who is the best? K/D comes to mind, as I like pilots who are realistic and not suicidal.
So, I need some input. Here's what I want to do.
I want to reward the pilot who has the most kills, while landing his aircraft or bailing successfully. Whats the best ratio to judge this by?
After I get a few inputs on this thread, I'll officially announce my decision, and put up the bounty.

That's easy...pick me! :) Seriously though I think you should take into consideration more than K/D such as type and variety of planes flown.
Oh and most important stat....how many Knights were killed :D

Does how many times you screw up and get shot down by spitfires while flying as a knight count? Because I could very well take that title with some concentrated flying.

Kills/Sortie, but now that has been turned into 'who hangs the longest online'-ratio with the rearming and stuff. Go with Kills/Time.

Oh and don't call the award anything more than what it is, an award at one category. Winning that doesn't qualify you as the best fighter - regardless what you pick.

I'll clear it up for you. I am the winner.
I am clearly the best fighter pilot in the game, just ask anyone. Matter of fact, I am the best gunner, bomber, fighter, ship driver, pt boat captain, goon driving base capturer and vehicle driver.
Pay no attention to the friendly ribbing that will follow in this thread, they will look like flames...the best always have to deal with that but it's all in jest, sort of the <S> from the community.
Further, I am highly regarded and respected in the flight sim community extending well beyond the realm of Aces High, ask around. F4, all Janes, FA(2), AW, WB, IL-2 etc ..you name it, I am the proven best of the best.
I let people shoot me down often...as I don't like to hog all the attention, and it proves good for moral. So...as you can clearly see, I should recieve your award/reward :)

you should give the account to the winner of wild wednesday, or to the person who breaks Fishu's streak.

Perhaps you should consider different caterogy than "the best pilot"?
Everyone has an idea who would get the prize if it goes by 'the best pilot', since theres only handful of them who could have a chance to win the prize.
For an example, you could give the prize to 50th ranked player in some caterogy... or what ever you guys could come up as best idea to give more players a chance to win the prize than just handful.
I'd say that the one with best chance to win the prize in case of best streak of the TOD, is Citabria.. everyone knows he has high chance and there might be only two who can compete with him.
That wouldn't be much of a competition.

I brought this up, since in the past, when I've observed competitions done in WB/AH, theres usually been certain players who has won the competition.
Make it a competition where winner could not be expected :)

This isn't a lottery, so choosing a random ranking is not what I intended.

Not random.. but say like "whos 20th at the end of TOD gets the prize" ;)
...think about the fight for the 20th rank.
Though, if it has to be out of the caterogies, whos best..
Then I'd go for kill streaks, since that has been my definition for best pilots.
Whos best pilot... is one with good skills, nerves and knowledge.

Muck, just some advice- but if you are looking for the best stats to get an idea of "the best" pilot (although the only real way to do it is to hold a tournament)... well you would need to do a combination of kills/death, kills /sortie and kills/time. Kills/death and kills/time counting more than kills/sortie.

I have the answer to the problem of how to find a winner in a fair way. Give it to the person with the highest number of field captures :) I'm serious, it is the only stat you can rely on to give you an idea of someone who is deserving.
It is the most fair answer. Think about it, it is.
Plus it sure would be nice to have some incetive for people to bring a goon :D
