so , when do we get nalpam to drop on the tigers?
-
I love the smell of nalpam in the morning. It smells like vitcory.
-
smell of napalm is overmodeled

"Napalm" what are you talking about? This thread is about nalpam and don't try hi-jack it! Stay on topic.

did i mispell something? that was too early in the afternoon for a my standard late evening booze enduced typos
-
Some Napalm would be nice - 1000lb. Bombs and 5" HARV rockets don't seem to have much effect on them.
-
i spelled it "nalpam' so hitech would know what i was talking about.
-
to knock out armour, what we need is a variety of heads for the rockets...i was reading about US aerial rockets a few days ago@the library (looking for info in tiny tim). on othe the books i looked in had many pix of F4Us w/ rockets. they used a variety of them for different purposes: 3.5" ARs (Aerial Rockets) 2.75" SCARs (SubCaliber Aerial Rockets) & 5" HVARs (High Velocity Aerial Rockets). the rockets could be fitted with different heads. for armour they had a 6.5" armour piercing shape charge head that went on the HVARs. That should do the job on the Tigers...406th FG's web site says HVARS "...rang the death bell for the enemy Tiger tanks..."
SCARs would be nice for taking on field flak (not as heavy, so you could dogfight better with them under your wings)...there were proximity fused HVARs & ARs too...

napalm was used in WW2 and believe it or not it was incredibly effective against armoured targets.I read somewhere in an article about weapons that napalm used to cause tanks up to 200 yards away from the blast to spontainiously explode due to excessive tempratures.
First napalm bombs were made from modified fuel tanks and were a bit inaccurate due to the uncontrolled tumbling effect as they dropped but still effective due to the fact they didnt have to be very accurate to destroy targets. In Korea they were said to be excellent bunker busters
Napalm in AH would be a superb GV killer and no doubt excellent for taking out acks too.
Also as it was an allied only weapon Im surprised the allied guys havent been lobbying hard for it.
-
But the graphics it would have to bring, them long lasting flames and smoke!
And rolling flame balls on impact!
-
Typhoons also dropped napalm on the Germans.
-
it'd be a great way to close down a runway for a few minutes, or to fry up a bunch of unwanted enemy paratroops

what, you Brits didnt use it during the Emergency in Malayia?
-
Only USN and USMC craft should carry it though.
Many Allied Tactical Aircraft carried Napalm in the ETO & MTO as well as in the Pacific not just the Navy & Marine birds.
Some we have would be the:
P-47
P-38
P-51
Typhoon
The may have also been used on the A-20
Germans also used it I believe. Except they dropped it from bombers during the "Blitz" to start fires. Think I have some pictures around here somewhere of them filling canisters with what is called "Fire jelly."
