Received the material on the F6F-5 in my e-mail. Thanks so much for your help.
Lots of interesting material. The data confirmed my belief that the F6F-5 could attain level flight speeds in excess of 400mph with war emergency power.
Great stuff. Thanks again.

Believe it or not, the F6F-5 was a better performer at 20k than at lower levels. 400+ would come at approx. 21,000 ft.

Man, you guys are on crack. The F6F sucks. So does anyone that would fly that pile of excrement.

Math,
Are you in or out of the closet? ;)

I think he's hanging on to the door-knob, swinging from the hinge, and has hit his head on the doorjam a loooooong time ago:D

Me last night: "Hey, look, its an F6F. I'll bet its heavy and on its way to go bomb my airfield. This should be an easy kill in my Yak."
Three turns later...
"Mathman has shot you down."

Heya Shuckins,
Glad I could help. Keep in mind that those Docs are Grumman estimates of performance before they actually flew. Notice the climb is a bit high.
However Vought documents I have seem to list the F6F-5 as a 400MPH fighter. Funny Vought is the source I have that says that when I can't find Grumman with the same. In anycase I believe it.
!!
Always funny to see a post with my name in the header.
