Title: What is the best way to get someone to quit?
Post by: Pongo on January 18, 2003, 11:58:16 AM
I allready gave the bum last years pay grade in hopes he would notice and quit..But hes still here.  Next I think Ill move him to the basement and take away his favorite stapler.

It would be a tough situation if the reason the bum doesn't quit is because he thinks about pongo all the time too :D

Right now he'd have to be nuts to quit, if you want him gone lay him off.

If he's breaking the rules write him up, give him a verbal warning then fire him.

It's that simple.

you cant really be serious ?
you would put somone out of work in these economic times knowing they may not be able to find another job for a long long time

does he have family does his wife work will he lose his place to live if he gets fired .

think of these things and think of ways to get him to improve his work before firing .

I was let go from a job in sept of last year because me and my supervisor just didnt see eye to eye on procedures
but I have it from another supervisor of another dept that my supervisor said I was the best tech he ever had working there we just didnt get along well.

also keep in mind some people when they get fired go buy guns and do crazy toejam man

(Lumberg Voice ON)

"Yeahhhh, Milton, I'm going to need you to moooove.  We've got some people coming in and we're going to need the space, so if you could just... pack up your stuff and move into the basement, that would be just super.  Thanks a bunch, ok?"

Or go with Plan B and seat him next to the receptionist:

"Accounts Payable, Nina speaking....JUST a mom-ENT. Accounts Payable, Nina speaking..JUST a mom-ENT.  Accounts Payable, Nina speaking. JUST a mom-ENT."

Or go with Planc C: fire him, but don't tell him, just stop sending his paycheck out and "fix the glitch."

I wouldn't TOUCH his stapler especially if it was red.

If you do take it and move him to the basement be sure to have a lot of Fire insurance. :D

Yeah, my company is sticking it to employees, too.  And I keep thinking about the line of work the "Office Space" company was in: reprogramming code for Y2K compliance.  All the employees in that sausage factory were going to be out of work by now anyway!
