Big
to MR.Pluto for joining this small flight. :)
It wasn't exactly a big success... the ack factory was very sparse... but we managed an organized flight, and all 5 Ju88s survived and returned home(1 was lost due to a freak accident during take off... ).
We were engaged by Spitfires and Hurricanes, and they all tried their best, big to them. But it seems quite clear a huge, organized formation of Hurricanes and Spits will be required to take down organized formations of Ju88s.. the .303 aren't exactly like 20mm cannons.
Practically, the Ju88, in 1940, is the B-17 of its time, I guess. We were engaged by 6~7 fighters during the whole flight. Along the engagement, me and Pluto never met an instance where more than 1 fighter came at us. They all came 1 by 1, and got shot down 1 by 1. Also, we were in a tight, formation(Pluto is excellent in maintaining formation!), and most of the fighters came after my lead plane, which was leading the entire flight. As you'll be able to see in the pic, that's not a very bright idea..
I think the odds would have been a lot higher, if the Spitfires and Hurricanes waited with patience, formed up while following us, and striked during our return flight.
