Recently took my dated p3/500, TNT2 Ultra and upgraded to a geforce4 ti-4400....in the process, I ended up changing out the PS to a 350w (from 200) and added a USB card (4 more ports) and doubled the RAM to 512mb.
The question is, all that's left basically from the "old" machine is the SB live card and a gameport card (still running analog CH stuff) -- if I were to go ahead and change out the p3 and MB for a p4/new MB, would I *have* to go to winxp or could I leave the 98se OS intact (I like it better than the Teletubby XP system)?

You don't have to go to XP, but it is a very good idea to reinstall windows when changing motherboards. It will probably work not doing so, but it will result in a slower and probably less stable system.

What bloom said.
Also, as W98 knows nothing about the newer chipsets, be sure to install your INF files from the CD that will come with the motherboard immediately after the base OS is installed.
