Title: question about bailing?
Post by: Chaos68 on November 15, 2001, 06:22:00 AM
if you bail out do you save more perk points?

isnt it easyer just to crash and burn with your wings?

do you save more points if you bail in enemy terr, freindly terr, or land and ditch in freindly terr?

Sigh. So much for the "experts".

The perk points you earned are all added up at the end of a mission, and multiplied with a number that depends on your outcome. Lets say you scored 2 perks.

You landed: 2 x 1 = 2 perks
You discoëd (disconnected): 2 x 0.25 = 0.5 perks
You bailed: 2 x 0.5 = 1 perk
You ditched: 2 x 0.75 = 1.5 perk
You were captured: 2 x 0.4 = 0.8 perk
You were killed: 2 x 0.25 = 0.5 perk
You crashed: 2 x 0.25 = 0.5 perk

See, it aint hard to just answer a question.

Sorry, but this is all wrong.

If you have a missing in which you shoot down 2 of what you are flying and thus have 2 perk points, the following modifiers take effect depending on how your mission ends:

You landed: 2 * 1.25 = 2.5 perks
You disconnected: 2 * 1 = 2 perks
You bailed: 2 * 1 = 2 perks
You ditched: 2 * 1 = 2 perks
You were captured: 2 * 1 = 2 perks
You were killed: 2 * 1 = 2 perks
You crashed: 2 * 1 = 2 perks

If you are flying an Me262 (200 perk point aircraft) and shoot down another 262, your points are modified as follows for mission endings:

You landed: 1 x 1.25 = +1.25 perks
You disconnected: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks
You bailed: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks
You ditched: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks
You were captured: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks
You were killed: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks
You crashed: 1 * 1 - 200 = -199 perks

In short, the only modifier is a 25% bonus for landing a mission.

Keez, those multipliers don't apply for perk points. Only "regular" points.

Perk points only have 2 mulipliers:

You land you get x1.25
You don't you get x1.00

+ pure manouver kills (not hit the enemy with single shot) don't give any perk points at all.

"landing your sortie will apply a 1.25 multiplier to your perk points." - help pages

Are there ANY points at all for resupplying fields at this time (Perk or regular)?

NO, it's simply a waste of ammo, and depending on how Pyro is timing sorties, you might actually be helping the chuter (heh) by cutting his flight short. Once he bails that's it. You can't give him two deaths for the same mission. So, regarding k/d, or k/s, the determining factor is the first event (death, bail, auger, what-have-you). Shooting his chute does nothing except waste your ammo.

However, bailing can be useful. Say your enemy has come very close to your aircraft in a high E attack, manages to eliminate most of your aircraft's structure, but hasn't yet exploded you. If, you bail, you may be able to force a collision on his FE with your chute. Those chutes are VERY tough. It's happened to me.

In the newest update HTC added in a new perk multiplier.

The higher you are in the air when you open your chute, the more perks you retain. So make sure you open up nice and hi, level with which where you were shot down is best..

This only applies for spitV, N1k2, and LA7 drivers for some reason.

seriously!!  :)

I've seen those that deliberately open high in order to survey the area and report on acitivities going on, a spy if you will.  I've even seen them land on a mountainside and stay there.  I've straffed such spies as of late...    ;)

I used to hate chute shooting...but recently something has changed and I take every opportunity to pop a chute. Something makes me feel good imagining the guy sitting in front of his monitor saying to himself..."what's that 190 doing...he's not going to...that bastard!@"  :D

And it stops someone from giving my next victim a check 6.

I've always been an advocate of giving the bailed pilot a .45cal like in WB so ya can ping away at the chute straffer.

The 'ol one in a million "golden bb" kill!

Plus as HT stated in a recent interview someday we may have infantry troops on the ground, it be kinda nice to protect yourself from em.

I'm cornfused.  Which exact squad would those be? The old, new 13nd TAS, the almost as new but kind of more recent ++--<<13TAS>>>--++ or the old 13 TAS we've all come to love/hate  :) ?

Luckily there's only been one FDB skwadd. So far.  ;)

Creamo. Fatty. SOB. Hangtime. Rude. Sax...

Sax. Now, I managed to get him last night. I didn't get the chute, but I got him. Unfortunately his buds gangraped me before I could reverse and finish the job properly. All in good fun, of course.  :D

I've noticed that even the base AI's like to shoot chutes as evidenced by my 20mm riddled corpse lying in the middle of some nme field  :D
