I wonder if they need a somebody to fly those Predators?
Maybe all this time learing flight sims can be put to good use. Imagine a whole on-line air force recruited from AH and WB. We can do the whole thing from home.
I bet they could even get us to pay $14.95 a month to be in the new USAF On-Line!
We've got the experience! We seem to have plenty of time and besides it would big fun to try out some of those Hellfires.
Of course we would need a BBS to whine on. ("Those AAA SE of Bagdad are over modeled")

Even the USAF couldnt afford to lose that many predator drones.
-
Ya I could see it now 400 predators crusing the streets of bagdad shooting ANYTHING that moved. I can hear the whines now. That damned buss just HOed me!!! Hey hitech whats with the kill shooter. All ack down vultching lamp is lit. Flak panzers up they have assumed the possision. Chute at 10clk low get him. There is no way that mig out turned me he was doing 400 knots.

You think our BBS would be funny? Just imagine the Iraqi whines.
Stoopid Amerekans!! Is that all you can do is mount mass Predator raids! All Lemmings!
One on one we'd keel you!

Don't forget the inevitable 'PERK THE PREDATOR!' whine.

Hmm, you'd need to polygraph everyone to make sure they weren't Iraqi sympathisers or 5th columnists.
And none of the strat targets would ever get hit.
And we'd keep losing drones when we went AFK for a beer or more 'go-pills'.
-
And then who would get to fly the UCAV (http://www.af.mil/news/May2002/n20020523_0841.shtml) (unmanned combat aerial vehicle) when it becomes fully operational? Do we go on a perk system?
-
With enough perks you would then get to climb in one of these

That rules out 60% of the community.

That rules out only 60% of the adults who are surveyed, maybe 10% would be gamer enough to be interested in participating. That 'community' also ignores all the kids that would want piece of the action. It would be simple to find plenty of volunteers.

This reminds me of that Sci Fi movie, "The Last Starfighter". They used Video games to identify the best pilots. I once tried the starburst manuever in the main arena but it didn't work so well and I augered.

Just FYI,
Ft Huachuca is where the Army trains the crews to fly the UAV's it has. Recently they were convinced that the operators needed to have passed the FAA written for private pilot in order to fly these things. About twice a month they buss the new pilots to Cochis College (where I am getting my A&P) and give them the written test. Kinda funny to see a bunch of young troopies in BDU's on campus. :)
A bunch were there today taking their test on the computer set up.
