Cripes! Finger printed at birth, can't wait for big brother to get ahold of those.
"Barcodes 'stop baby mix-ups'
Barcodes containing newborn babies' fingerprints are being used to prevent mix-ups over identification.
The system has been introduced in the maternity unit of La Zarzuela Hospital in Madrid, Spain.
As soon as babies are born their fingerprints, and those of their mothers, are stored in electronic barcodes which mother and baby wear on their wrists. "

i think it would kinda kew| if we called the Do'J kroftstaffel (FBI vehicles could be kroftstaffelwagen & travel in schwarmes, different FBI field offices could all be Jagdgeschwaders & prosecutors could members of Sturmstaffelin...)

They're probably using some innocuous story to justify it, like "It's only to help minimize mother/baby mixups and to make the hospital more secure against babyjacking"

What principle? I have been numbered for as long as I can remember... Here in the U.S. we have Social Security. The number is practically an ID.
What's the big deal?
Oh... and another thing... printing at birth isn't new either. Even I was printed... forty-one years ago this month.
so... there... :p

Sandman - I think we need some kind of emoticon amnesty - you're positively schizophrenic in your application of them. Talk about being in two minds - how about 6!? ;):rolleyes::D+

:
Since they use them on thier wrist bands its no deal at all
when they start transplanting the bar codes on them then you should worry.
-
pls skip the barcode and go right to the implanted chip .. I have stock in them :)
-
Thrawn...I asume from your post that you dislike knowing your parents are your real ones, and not the result of some Hospital mistake. Curious. Is your opinion habitual in Canada?
Cheers,
-
Or is it you wear your clothes permanently, and you associate a wrist to a permanent mark? :D

You worry because you've been programmed to worry.

Thought of something else as well... It makes perfect sense to identify each baby clearly.
Ever watch a newborn? I don't think it's true of babies delivered via C-section, but naturally delivered babies come out with really odd shaped heads. There was a particularly long delivery with my son... over twenty hours. His appearance seemed to change rapidly and from one day to the next, he looked quite different as his skull changed shape.
