Title: Windows XP / POP-UPS!!!

I loaded XP on my computer and now i get these anoying pop-ups even when im not on the internet.

The pop-ups boot me out of games when they come up and its anoying the hell out of me! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Does this happen to everyone or do i have some other program on my computer thats doing this.

I looked it up on the net and they want $20 bucks for software to get rid of the pop-ups.

NOW why should i pay $20 to get rid of something that Microsoft is doing?
AND how do i get rid of the pop-ups without paying the $20?

Pop ups?  I have XP Pro and I can't say I have ever seen one that wasn't a result of a web site I was on.  It must be something else running on your PC.

It's a prog called PowerBlaster this is causing your problem.  Try searching on it.

Go into your control panel, admin tools, bring up services, and stop the Messenger service
do a web search on messenger service and popups, and you'll find a detailed description.  When you find it, you can also go ahead and block that port on your personal firewall.

There's a lot of programs that'll do this. Download and run Adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com
