droooooolllll:eek:

That's sweet, but why isn't it in a bikini?;)
-
That case would look so sweet if instead of green it was actual color gray or silver.

I am sure its just like other alienware computers where you can configure the colors.
-
too bad they overcharge for every single piece of hardware they put in the box.
-
screw the case. what's it got inside?
-
nice case...now lets get some REAL MEAT into that thing
-
Heheh the Mac marketing motto: "If you build it in pretty colors they will overpay."
-
If they sold the case separately in gray I would buy it for a multimedia box.
-
Pentium 4 3.13Ghz
512mb PC1066 RDRAM
GeForce FX
-
A customer sent me one to play with for a couple of weeks... The hardware is all quality, they are priced for a niche of people who can afford them.. OR are willing to pay for what is percieved higher level of customer support, which in reality is just another busy signal on the 800#... I would recommend the Laptops over Dell or the other market potatos brands... But for the desk boxes
you could build one helluva rack mount Hyproglow puter for what alienware charges for their's...
-
GF FX?
Uh,..so they ain't going to be shipping these things for another month or 2?
T0J0, what vid card was in it, cause there is no way it had a GF FX in it.
-
who cares about the "case" all what people cares about is the "inside" instead. lol i run my pc with its case open so i can clear the dust every week
-
brilliant marketing. You design a box with "the best" components inside, a pretty case, and you charge a hefty premium. Ideal for the rich computer nerd who wants something cool and fast and doesn't want to learn how to assemble his own.
-
Skuzzy,
That is correct. They will not be shipping them for another month or two.

From that page:
Alienware Prototype: GeForce FX and a Whole Lotta Goodnes
Our editorial staff hasn’t done a hands-on preview of a prototype OEM machine since the days when the magazine was called boot. But when we saw Alienware’s new case design, our hearts were all a-twitter. Then, when an alien elder told us he’d stuff the rig with a working prototype version of the new GeForce FX videocard (a feat no other system vendor could wrangle), we took the bait. “Give us that machine,” whispered Jon Phillips in his Cigarette Smoking Man voice. “We must have it now.” Article includes first GeForce FX benchmarks available anywhere!

I was talking Alienware in general, wasn't really paying attention
to the model... Was couple of months old... Sorry MY bad!

Not sure about that one, But IIRC Chieftec (http://www.chieftec.com/products/products.htm) makes the cases alienware uses.

Pretty except for colours.
Of course I always put my puter together myself. And my tower is sort of stripped to the bone - not very pretty, but extremely functional.
I rate functionality over looks at almost all times.
What would you rather have - a bikini model girlfriend that only wants to have sex in the dark, in the missionary position and who keeps talking about what chores you have to do afterwards, or an ordinary women who's a true fiend in bed, more kinky than yourself?
My choice is easy :).
Functionality over looks.
-
if i knew enough about building them id get rid of my case and leave it by the window... (-20 c up here in canada...)
-
Build em yourself. It's not that hard. I started with this alluminum case http://directron.com/mg.html
turbo-cool 450 watt ps
512mb corsair ddram w/heat spreader
AMD XP 1900
Geforce4 4600ti 128mb ddram
Abit kr7a raid mobo
You can spend under a $1000.00 and build a brilliant system.
I have built another with a Koolance water cooled case.
-
The water cooled. I installed the window kit. Is there anything a Dremel can't do?
-
The Area 51 has
P4 HT 3.06 Ghz
512 mb RDRAM
ATI RADEON 9700 128mb
and other such lovly features :)
BTW water with electronics dont mix at all never get me doing that its asking for trouble:)
-
Yep, and I think the point about this case maybe that it's not a generic that is for sale except thru Alienware.
I think they had it designed and delivered to them only.
I searched when this thread was put up and couldn't find the new one anywhere.

Who needs an alienware case? This case is alluminum, 6 case fans(the two intake fans in the front have a dust filter), top exaust fan(where heat rises), and a slide out mobo tray. All for a hundred bucks, take a look http://directron.com/mg.html
BTW, I purchased one a year ago for $150.00. Down too a hundred is a bargain IMO. I'm thinkin of getting another b4 they disc the model.
-
everyone knows REAL aliens are Grey
-
heh, who cares what they put inside the case. you can get all of that stuff through other online stores (OEM or retail box, your pick) and save mega $$$ over alienware. I just like the spiffy case. ;)
and they have green, red, black, blue, and grey for colors, IIRC.
