122 in Phoenix for me. They grounded planes at Sky Harbor that day...... air too thin.
-
When I was stationed at Ft. Irwin we had a single day at 134 F.
They actually closed the post and cancelled all training that day. VERY VERY hot
-
Colombia... Laticia. 120 degrees 100% humidity. I remember looking at the thermostat at 7am and it read 100.
Africa hot.
-
Not certain but the night temps didnt drop below 97 degrees and the day temps were in the 120's....our cockpit was above 150 ish when we got out to the plane....Djibouti ( not a fun place to be ).
-
.......I'll let ya know if a few months ;)
-
Maybe 30-35C.
And I was dying then. I sincerely doubt that natural Scandinavians are built for heat. Guess we could overcome it with training, but at that temperature, I stop functioning properly.
I'd rather have -30C. At least then you can do stuff and have fun.
-
Highest temp was in Saudi Arabia, mid to upper 130's during the day and down to the 90's at night. It was a dry heat so was somewhat bearable as long as there was no physical activity. Our "sleep" time was between 10am and 3pm, with training and patrols etc being carried out at night due to the cooler temps.
Most oppressive heat was at Ft Stewart Georgia, near triple digit heat with hi-90's humidity.

Can Identify with that, got out of the back seat of a phantom in Libia in the '60, it was so hot I nearly fainted.
Saudi late '70s had a week of over 120 in the compound don't remember the single high though.
guttboy where in NM ya at?

Mr Bill,
Im living here in ABQ now flying MC130s out of Kirtland. You up in Taos....at least you guys got some snow up there. We are BONE dry down nere.
-
I think it was 112 degrees while hiking at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I think the 20-pound pack and hiking non-stop for hours increased the discomfort.
-
Looks I got this one beat..so far. 141 F at Dahrahn, Saudi Arabia in July. However in August it was much more miserable. The temps subsided a little to the 120's but the humididty rose to 100%
-
Altec... stationed at Ft. Irwin?! Ugh... dustbowl flashbacks... that is a miserable chunk of land there... thank goodness I never went through there in the summer.
Don't think I have ever been in more than 108 F.
-
116 during Football practice in High School.
Lotsa pukin going on.
-
last summer in texas for the con

Was out there for a year and a half. Spent 25 days a month in the field as a track mechanic. Anytime I think things are hard, or I hear people complain about working overtime sitting in thier cubicals I laugh. I remeber one day I had working on a line of 12 tanks that all needed engine swaps. Me and four others worked 36 hours straight with no food or breaks. Just coffee with sand in it. After that everything in life just kinda pales.

Me and the woman were taking a drive thru Death Valley, California in the middle of summer on year...(for those that have never been there.. there is a REASON why they call it Death Valley.. ).. and its a roasty 120something.. we come across the 'Badwater'.. the lowest point geographically on the North American continent.. like 300 feet below sea level..so we stop and check it out and as we have been drinking fluids like fish we have to take whizzes.. there is this little cement hut thing that is their version of a park potty.. but its so damn hot that it is essentially a brick oven cooking poo.. she ran over and opened the door, ran in and jumped back coughing and nearly puking all over the place.. 'thanks for taking point' I told my honey as I piled into the car, laughing to find another place to answer nature.

Dang, actual temps I've been in I dunno, but I've been in the following places....
Saudi Arabia and Iraq with the 101st ABN, 1990-91, DAMN hot when we first got there in August.
Ft Clayton, Panama when I was in the 5/87th INF, 1989-90, hot AND muggy, bad combo.
Ft Irwin, CA, after leaving Ft Wainwright, AK when I was in 4/9 INF. Hardest change in temp ever, except when we went to Ft Polk for JRTC in April, left AK with snow on the ground, went into 95 degree temp, with 90ish humidity, and got back to snow on the ground. I almost died, I tell you.
-
132 degrees Ft Irwin Ca... And training didnt stop. After battle we were on top of the whale in our underware playing spades...lol
-
130-142 degrees (if memory serves correct) in Saudi Arabia in '91 during the day. Went from Ft. Wainwright, AK to Ft. Hood, TX to Saudi. Til this day, I'm still amazed that I didn't die from pneumonia. :D

Seventh Grade. First day of football practice, ever. In August. 100 degrees in the shade. Full pads. Ground was hard as granite. High humidity. Felt like it was 150 degrees.
I still dream about it at night.
Gimme cold weather any day.
Oh. The 116 degree temperature in Luxor, Egypt did not feel as hot. No humidity.

I love hot weather....but the worst I was in......
Sheriffs academy (sheriffacademy.com)
109, Humid in the 70s
PT for 5 miles, in formation, singing cadence.
Thought I was going to die for real.
but I made it!
-
Malleus!!! I was in 4/9th infantry at Ft. Wainwright from...hmmmm 1988-92, HQ commo platoon... good to see a fellow Manchu here. =) Small world.
-
When was this? I was out there in 94-95. You stationed there or you fight us?

I was searching the web for hottest recorded temperature on earth..... was 136 in Libya and second was 134 in death Valley.
Here in Az, the summer is like 6 months long, but in june/july/aug
it is pretty much always in 100-110+ range.
edit: I should say in southern to middle of Arizona.
-
Altec, I was stationed there from June 95 to Dec 98. Best duty and the most fun I ever had. I can feel you on the changing of packs though. Those sheridans were crap. I was not a mechanic but I remember seeing you guys 4 oclock in the morning while heading out to my Air defense set and the mechanics still changing packs with a few still being towed in. You guys and the engineers had the most dufficult jobs. Im haveing lazer tag flash backs of being killed by apaches at 5k range on the race track, Bradlys chasing my beat up BRDM all over the goat trail, shooting M1A1s with my Dragon like I could kill em.
By the way they did start changing out the vismod BMP sheridans because of going through so many packs. They now have what they call an osv. its a 113 with a vismod kit and an actual bradley turret install.
-
105 degrees when we stopped to refuel at some airport in saudi arabia. They opened the door and it hit you like an oven opening!
gimme cold and miserable UK any day :)
-
100+ F and 95+ humidity in Tallahassee FL. We've had that here in Pensacola too, but I didn't have to be out in it all day here.
tho, I think the worst was being on the astroturf in the Meadowlands in August for the 1993 Kickoff Classic wearing those damn non-breathing band uniforms. was worth it though, FSU 42 - Kansas 0, and win #1 on the way to the national title. :)
-
not sure of the actual temp. the weather report said 106F (I've been in hotter temps) but we where building a 30' dia stainless-steel tank (open top). the mirror-like finish on the inside magnified the heat an unbelievable amount.
I had a small, black, 'boom-box' stereo sitting on a metal bucket in the center of the floor. when I came back from lunch the speakers had melted off the sides and where laying on the floor. about 1 1/2 hours later I ended up going into seizures from the heat and being taken to the hospital.
that was over 10 years ago and I still can't really function in heat over 100 anymore.
-
stationed in Mobile AL while in the Coast Guard..
I remember heading to work at 6am..
100 deg F and 100 percent humidity..
I had to wear full blues, with hat, goggles, respirator, ear protection.. while welding inside the hull of our ship.
was glad to go to Antarctica after that
I can handle high temps but that high humidity??? no friggin way

I remember that day. Because I was chopping weeds in my dad's cotton field in Yuma that day. It was over 130deg down there. But, who's counting? After 120 it's just hot. :D

Africa hot.
Africa is a dry heat, mini-dork.

I drove a motorcycle accross the Mojave desert in August back in 1990. We stopped in a small gas station/casino and checked the temp, it was 117 at 11:00 am.

Yes.. of course rip. I'm sure all of Africa is exactly the same. No moisture there... no jungles there... nah.. just desert.
I really don't remember you always being this stupid rip. Is this just a mode you go into when you're trying too hard to make a point?

Sq. mile wise, Africa is predominently a dry continent.
So, hows the relationship going with you and Mini? ;) not that there's anything WRONG with that...
-
About the hottest temp I can remember being in was a few years ago at the Minnesota state fair. It was near 100° with humidity up toward 100°. That's about all this pansy can stand. After an hour of sweating like a little piggy I was ready to head back to the car and the sweet succulent air conditioning!

My God rip.. you still think you're right?
Dude... seek help.
And Cpt.. glad to see you got the refference. I apreciate the show of support (intentional or not) but must warn you that if you get on Rip's bad side, he'll search through "user's posts" and start replying with the blind ignorance that only he can muster. You've been warned.

Just trying to help...it seems that Deja was not in the dry parts of Africa, as can be found out by reading his original post, if you're armed with the knowledge that there are some parts of Africa that aren't dry.
As for the relationship, that's going pretty well. We had a spat the other day about what color to paint the bedroom. He wants a faux finish with a greenish shade and I'm leaning toward a flowery pink. Other than that all is well with the exception of Animal...he's stalking us.
SOB
...apparently gay.
-
Don't try to candy coat it SOB.
SOB wanted to go with a pastel orange similar to the Texas Longhorn's uniform color. I argued that we might be gay, just not THAT gay.
It really was more of a tiff. It was over quickly and we made up.

Hottest temp ive been in had to be when my high school marching band went and led the parade down main street in Disney World.....that was an awesom thing to accomplish...but it was hot as fuk.....our uniforms are the long sleeve wool variety....dark blue with some white....it was atleast 100 that day and was humid...we changed and then had to stand around in sun for half hour warming up the instruments.....that was a bunch of crap....they were almost melting already....so we did the march..not even a mile long...got done...all we got was a small cup of water....changed out of uniforms....then back into the park sweating and smelly for another 3 hours then finally back to the hotel....we were dead tired at the end
