Title: More Saitek X-45 problems.
Post by: Fancy on January 25, 2003, 12:30:16 PM
None of this would be necessary if Saitek bothered to support their good joysticks with anything more than crappy support software.  How can a company be satisfied that most people use 3rd-party drivers for their products?  Anyway...

Everything is fine using standard X-45 drivers EXCEPT I can't use the mode switch.  Essentially I want the mode switches for different flight modes (fighter, bomber, jabo).  Again, this isn't actually a problem, however, what I also want is for the Aux slider to switch view modes.  Again, I can get this to work in AH, but the problem is it persists in windows causing a repetitve keypress, which is obviously unacceptable.  Saitek claims that I can make a game-specific profile, but for me SGE doesn't install properly.  I decided I'd live with it for a few weeks, but today I decided to switch to Dhauzimmer's drivers to see if I can get any one of the many profile-makers out there to make a game-specific profile.  Most seem like they can, but I haven't paid too much attention to that yet because the calibration on my stick is whacked.  I used both calib.bat's that came with the drivers but the input is jammed up and to the left, and no button presses register (which may just be a matter of re-mapping).  I erased the stick.cfg in AH because I heard the two calibrations can conflict, but to no avail.

My Questions:
1.)  I'm running 98SE, can anyone help me as to how to calibrate my stick properly
2.) Which profiler should I use that can easily creat game-specific profiles?
3.)  Why is Saitek such a bone-headed company?

Thanks for any help.

Well, I decided to go back to the Saitek drivers for the time being, but it seems Dhauzimmer's drivers don't want to go away.  Now I have one instance of D's drivers and two intances of Saitek's.  I try to uninstall then reinstall but the same thing happens.  If I delete D's drivers undert HIDs, the others go with it and I lose my joystick entirely.  AND it no longer works.

I hear ya, I bought the x-45 and was hoping every button would have 3 different functions by switching the mode switch.  If anyone has any help on the matter I would appreciate it also.
