I've noticed severe problems with guns cutting out while tracking incoming nme fighters. The guns cease firing when you track a plane for maybe half a second - enough to get you killed. I can see no reason for this being deliberate and I know I've lost more than a couple of bombers directly because of this problem.

which buff ya flying?
some of them have deadspots to prevent shooting through your vertical stabilizer

Off hand I'd guess that there really isn't a "problem" when you begin firing at in incoming fighter you can fire all the guns on the bomber that can be trained on the target as the target moves it may move out of the fire arc. When that happens you'll hear guns dropping out as less guns can be brought to bear.

What happens on my system is that if I jump to one of the drones to gun, the guns on the main bomber don't fire. Both drones will, but when I return to the main bomber it will still have full ammo.
I only fly Ki.67s, so I don't know if this is unique to it or not.

Film it for analysis... Watch where the barrel is pointing when the guns cut out...
I'll bet they aim at a part of your own airframe huh? At least that's what happened on my FE...
Karnak: You're right about the ammo, but wrong about the guns not firing... I filmed mine and saw all planes blazing away.... Jumped to the lead plane and still had all ammo, unless I used it to shoot from... Weird huh?
PS to Karnak: Bud, ya know HTC ain't bringing us the Ki-84 anytime in this year, let alone this decade...:( They ain't even giving us the rest of the "early war" Allied planes, nor the Tri-Motor, or any of the other ancilary planes needed to make a 'balanced historical scenario'
But I respect your perserverance, and dedication to the art of AH and flying in particular... >S<

When I tested it over the water and the center bomber definately isn't firing. Fly at 100 feet over the water and fire the nose guns into the water from the #1 bomber. Then move to the #2 or #3 bomber and repeat the test. Only two streams of splashes appear when guning from the #2 or #3 bomber. I tested this with both the B-17G and Ki.67 and obtained identical results.
I campained for the Mosquito for a long time, with a very similar line in my signature, and eventually they added it. I'm not saying that I had any effect in getting it, but it did come.
KI.84 to AH!!!!

gotta be 500 feet up in buff before guns shoot
I think ?

come tot hink of it, I saw this in bugs forum

flitt,
Negative. The requirement for bomber flexible guns and turrets to fire is to be off the ground. Even an inch works.
You seem to be kind of thinking of bombs. Bombs must travel through 1,000ft of air in order to arm. That doesn't mean that you need to be 1,000ft AGL though. When you drop a bomb it has the aircraft's momentum level, so bombs dropped from an aircraft traveling at 300mph 100ft AGL would travel more than 1,000ft through the air, most of it horizontally.

This has started to happen to me in the b17 this tour. While in the tail gunner, I will start to fire at an enemy. After about a second of continual fire, I will still hear the gun sounds, but the tracers will stop and the ammo count stops lowering. About a half second later, the guns start to fire again.

Did they model over heaqting of the guns???????
