20 - 3 after one half

20 first downs to 3

no jerry rice receptions

2 rich gannon ints

sure the raiders sparked a small fire in the 4th..

but theres 60 minutes of football, not 10 or 15

No.
They sucked. They will be admitting it shortly.
Grudens play calling made a huge diff..and Gannon just didnt know what to do about it.

Cool that Gruden gave credit to Dungee after the game.

woooooooooooooooooooo!!!!  :)  WTFG Bucs!  Domination on defense, and timely offense in the 2nd quarter.

My fellow high schooler (and collegian) got yet another TD off an interception to go along with his NFL Defensive Player of the Year award!  Go Derrick!!!

heh, all the FSU players for the Bucs contributed.  Brad Johnson 2 TDs.  Greg Spires a sack, pass deflection and several hurries.  Derrick Brooks INT for a TD.  And Dexter Jackson, 2 ints and the MVP!  :)

The best team won.
Did you catch Mike Lynch on the sidelines telling a teammate that the they saw in practice everything the Raiders threw at them? Talk about great coaching and being prepared. The Raiders had no hope.

LOL, Al Davis's greed cost him and his fans the Superbowl.  (Take a look at the draft picks he got from Tampa Bay for Gruden)

I thought that quote was the most telling of all the things that were said: John Lynch:  "Every play they've run, we've run in practice."

The only person who knew the Raiders offense more than Rich Gannon and Bill Callahan was John Gruden.  Gruden was the guy that taught Gannon in Oakland, and Gruden was the guy that got Oakland's head coach started in the organization as the offensive coordinator.

Porter's TD catch wasn't good.

The 2-point conversion catch, was.

Rice showed his talent at beating a zone defense for a TD.

Woodson played up to his ability despite a plate in his legbone.

Gannon was rattled by sacks, hurries, and the first interception.

No way to practice against stopping a blocked kick run in for a TD, except to practice blocking so the defense can't get through to block it in the first place, but the Bucs aren't known for their great punting teams.

Why didn't we see Tyrone Wheatley earlier in the game?

A couple of good quotes:

"We were embarrassed because he completed two passes,'' Bucs LB Derrick Brooks said, laughing.

About Brooks' getting Gannon's interception late in the game: "He's still bragging about it,'' Bucs strong safety John Lynch said. "He took it down the field. It was probably because we were laughing so much.''

The Bucs are hosting a 5k run in April - the "Draft Day Dash" - at the stadium and giving away door prizes.  We'll get to celebrate the Super Bowl victory again and again. :)

Some good bits from the story on Yahoo News:

============

Gruden's knowledge of the Raiders was probably best illustrated when cornerback Dwight Smith stepped in front of Jerry Rice for a 44-yard interception return and a 34-3 lead with 4:47 left in the third quarter.

As Smith raced toward the end zone, Gruden was a few feet out on the field, running along behind the play, pumping his right fist and then thrusting both arms in the air, a huge smile on his face.

In the closing seconds of the first half, he also pumped his fist and ran onto the field after Keenan McCardell caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Brad Johnson, capping a 78-yard, 10-play drive that gave the Bucs a 20-3 halftime lead.

Tampa Bay has the NFL's most dominating defense, and it handled the Raiders so thoroughly that red-clad Bucs' fans chanted ``BOR-ING, BOR-ING'' as Gannon broke out of the huddle to begin a drive late in the third quarter.

Dexter Jackson, the game's MVP, had the first two interceptions against Gannon. Smith also had a 50-yard interception return for a TD, with two seconds to play.

I have never seen a team so demoralized as the Raiders yesterday.. they were pathetic and had no answer for what Tampa Bay was doing to them.

Officiating was horrible though. That pass interference call, the 2 point conversion, the raider TD, the first fumble (easy call - too bad Raiders needed to spend a review to look at it) overall the refs stunck up the joint.

None of it would have changed the outcome though.

You see those dressed up raider fans? The stupid look on their faces(redundant) was worth all the tea in china. They were outclassed, shouldn't have even been in the SB. The Jets would have given a better effort than that, but we had to watch the pathetic raiders bore us into oblivion. Worst SB, turned it off after that 1st tampa drive for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter. It was over.

Love it!

The kicker is that Al had sold all of his SB tickets for quick cash, probably hoping to showcase the Raiders as a quality organization and earn some big revenue dollars.  Instead of a victory celebration, he had to sit and look like a dope in front of his potential clients.

I don't care much for the Glazers, but at least they fulfill their obligations to their fan base by giving them a fair shot at SB tickets via the lottery system.

Two teams I've hated every year: The Raiders because of Al Davis (and their history of being the most-penalized team in the NFL) and the Redskins because of their team name.  That the Raiders got spanked by my Cinderella-story Buccaneers is true justice.

And if Tampa Bay had lost, we would've relished in our NFC Championship victory, instead of torching our town.

The bad part about the whole game was that I had the winning numbers for the 4th quarter when the Bucs intercepted that pass and scored with 2 seconds left. It cost me $20. That's the seoncd time I've lost a board on the last play of a game.

In the end the Tampa Defense scored more points than the Raiders Offense - tough for anyone to win a football game like that.

Ok, last one, I swear!

As you can see, they have a couple of different outfits - skirts and shorts, but also one-pieces, a Christmas-type short velvet dress, dance tights, and some dazzle bell-bottoms (not one of their better outfits, in my opinion).  They also have a jogging-type outfit for inclement weather performances.

Generally, their shows have improved over the years, probably as a result of the Glazers giving more support for the cheer teams.  When Culverhouse owned the Bucs, the Swashbucklers had to fund their own expenses, so while the girls were enthusiastic, they were somewhat limited in what they could do and how much practice time they could have.  I believe the Glazers have recognized the value of the cheerleaders as part of the Bucs entertainment package and provide financial and logistic assistance to the group.  They're available for corporate functions, much like the Busch Gardens Sheiks can be booked to help jazz up meetings and such.

You still not getting any, by chance?

One of the gigs they lined up was doing the quarterly fiscal report meeting for my company's local "Town Meeting" event. Ho-hum numbers crunching and ra-ra "Lets' boost sales" crap.

Until the girls came out and danced.

Hoo-yah!

After the gig was over, I got to talking to a couple of them.  Under all that bright-red lipstick and hair spray are some interesting women.  And of course, a couple of bimbos with aspirations of being beauticians and models/actresses who are doing the gigs hoping to get discovered (I'm guessing at least one moonlights at Mons Venus).  I got to talking with the head choreographer who gave me the inside skinny on how they used to practice in her driveway at night because they weren't allowed in the stadium for rehearsals until game day - and she lived right around the corner from me during that time (all those hotties right under my nose). She didn't give any specifics, but she did say that nowadays the groups gets assistance from the Bucs organization, including coverage on the team's website, and have to follow strict rules as to use of team logo, Swashbuckler name, uniform, and affiliation.  They do a bikini calendar with proceeds going to charity through the Glazer foundation.
