Header says it all . US has 38,47,and 51

WOW...
That is amazing, Stega!
Of course in the interests of fairness, and game balance, FORK left the Japs some nice rides like the N1K2, F6F, P-51... need I go on?

Fork was there and knows whats wrong. He had to bail but will fix it later....today I guess. Flying the George was fun, and he allies seemed to like the P-38.

Put a bandaid on it Jarbo will fine tune it today I am shure. Sry about that :(

Well, several of us tried for hours to keep players in aircraft specified in the MOTD. For the most part, they did until the numbers changed and new log ins arrived every few minutes. I repeatedly asked players to stick to the correct plane set. However, when I found swarms of C-Hogs, P-38s and B-17 formations pounding A9, I quit flying at a disadvantage and grabbed whatever I thought I needed.
Just as disturbing were the antics of a few who decided that the CT was really a practice arena for suicide tactics. Suicide
P-38s attacked Japanese fleets, and Wolfala repeatedly brought over low-level formations of B-17s to suicide the Task Forces. The only aircraft enabled on the carriers (for the Japanese) was the Zero, with totally inadequate guns to deal with formations of B-17s. Moreover, there are no manable guns on the CV TGs, meaning that we could not defend the ships whatsoever.
When informed that he should not be flying the B-17, nor engaging in suicide tactics with them, he became vulgar in the extreme. Turn on the lives limiter and leave it on. Guys like Wolfala lose 6 lives in minutes. Furthermore, I wouldn’t mind if the number of lives per hour were set at 4. Better yet, if HTC were to count each drone loss as a life lost, the suicide bomber formations would disappear.
Finally, I believe this mess resulted from a few guys milkrunning a reset earlier in the day.
It’s too bad things got so out of control. Many regulars simply logged off, figuring if they wanted to fly in the MA, they would go there.
My regards,
Widewing

i was there most of the day, there wasn't much in the way of milkrunning, altho' at a time or 2 #'s were a little lopsided. this map pretty hard to milkrun on. i don't even think the reset was a planned thing; the japs thought that since US still had 2 cv's and the rest of the tg's that taking the last land base wouldn't cause a reset, when in fact it apprently did.
but let this be a reminder - resets totally FUBAR the CT. perhaps, if possible, at least 1 base on each side should be made uncapturable (and perhaps toughened as well?).

As soon as I get home from work, I'll give the CT a thorough scrub. Sorry for the inconvienence until then.

Hey Jarbo and all CT CMs, thanks for all the hard work you put into our little corner of AH. If it wasn't for the CT the game wouldn't be as much fun for me personally.
PS the idea of at least one uncapturable base in the CT is a good start. If it were up to me I'd disable it completely and go with longer rebuild times, but my opinion is only one of many. ;)
Keep up the good work. Little bugs and glitches like this are a small price to pay to have a place to play that generally matches my preferred gaming style, and in this case I think my opinion is shared by a few others.

Yep, that was so ma last night, I had to just leave. Widewing made a valient effort (I stuck with the uberride f4u1), but alas, it was a suicide nik,p51 fest.

I tried to play in a Ki-61 for a time. Found a higher P-38 which made one pass at me and then ran. Found a P-51 which turned and ran. Decided I could play the same game in the MA but fly a plane I actualy enjoyed. Logged.
Widewing, I was on when you were doing what you could.

CT staff. Those things happen. Not to worry. :)
I for one flew a C hog three times once I noted some N1K2's. Had a great time till they they caught me in my zooms. :) Also had some PT fun.
Wolfala was very foul. I would have booted him if the CT was in my realm, but calling him a moron and dweeb that should go back to the MA did not help matters widewing.
Shane you have a good idea, but we can't do that with the tools we have. Base capture is on or off and we can't set one base so it can't be captured. They can adjust the rebuild time..., but I don't think you can do that per country. At work, can't check at the moment.

I've always thought CT maps should include one standard base per country with about 100 extra acks densely packed around it.

heh, and with the usual less lethal ack settings, one can take an m3 and knock 'em all out for major points.
:p
but the idea is heading the right way; in general it's not a problem as most of us know by now - it's just that some thought the cv tgs would count as bases, when for reset purposes, they don't.
maybe always a disclaimer in the MOTD, "DO NOT TAKE LAST LAND BASE OF OPPOSING SIDES UNDER PENALTY OF MAD MONKEYS BEING SENT TO YOUR HOME." or something.
-
Shane, good idea except that most people don't read the MOTD.

Please remember, I did not call him anything UNTIL he cut loose with the vulgarities. I did castigate him for his dweeby behavior in ignoring our requests that he stick to the plane set defined in the MOTD. That's when he "went off". He was well aware that we had no way to defend the carrier, but didn't care.
Even after his outburst, all I asked was; "has anyone ever suggested to you that you are a low-class worm?"
He replied that, indeed, some had.
Note: I didn't use the word "moron". Someone else may have referred to him as a moron, as the text buffer was filled with indignant replies to his vitriol. I do, however, believe that this fellow met the minimum definition of what Shane classifies as a Slobberdonkey! :D
Nevertheless, it was a fitting response, I believe, based upon the behavior and slime he dumped in the text buffer, which was so foul that I would never quote it here.

Yea! We want to have the correct historic plane set. Everything should be historic like to park a cruiser fleet off and airfield and kill aircraft taking off! That was done alot!!
Have a nice day!

actually if a crusiser managed to get within shelling distance, i doubt any planes would be getting off the ground, especially if the crusier had any sort of cap. but i know what you mean and yeah, it can be annoying... keyword: annoying... the CR's are so easy to sink it... 2k of ord or so and poofy... hello ironbottom sound. just up from the next closest base, put up a little mission.
i do think however, that any map that has water, bases close within shelling distance, should at least have 1 or 2 shore batteries as well.
this current setup requires relatively intelligent use of fleet assets if you don't want them sunk and out of action for a couple of hours, especially if I'm on the opposing side.

Even better,
Put these bases on top of 40K spires!

So far the best thing we have been able to come up with is closly montering the map to see that it does not reset. On some maps like this one in paticular it is almost imposable to do this 100% of the time do to the shalow depth of the Allied line.
Also most made for CT maps have the odd country out issolated so far away that taking it is very unlikely, we also set the ACK leval at that country to Deth Star lethality setings, basicaly if you spawn with bad intent it will kill on the runway.:)
Thier is another "Unknow" issue of reset's occuring do to HTC related maintance or bugs were are not aware of that defy description and happen on rare ocashion, If A tree falls in the woods kinda thing...
Realy The Best bet for avoding all 3 types of reset's are close montering by the Staffer's, we try to make shure it runs smoth howeaver the fickle finger of fate often is the middle one and we screw the pooch from time to time.:)
