Yeah, I agree somewhat Dingy... it tires very quickly... we should be going forwards, not backwards.

This map is a blast..
Last night Rooks rolled 6 or 7 Osties to a23, me Fatty, SOB rolled Tanks and AKnimitz upped in hvy fighter. This was a fantastic ground fight. M3s sneakin around the bottom of the mountains as us tanks engaged Osties. Fatty was close to the maproom and i turned turret around to look at him. i saw a M3 parked beside him and troops walking past his Ostie.
I yelled out, Fatty troops tryin to steal your beer.... As i lobbed 75mm AP round at the M3 and tryed getting a .50 on em. Fatty belches and drops the 37mm to eye level and clears the troops as they walk by his Ostie. Then the M3 gets it..
Still more m3 sneakin around. This was such a blast and a change of pace from flying.
We even had great tank fights between valley VHs. To much fun.
Dog out.........

I like this map too.
If you allow that bases are going to come and go a lot faster than with other maps, and can let it go instead of holding on to them dying forever, the upsides are you can always find ground targets, air targets, or both.
If you want the fly to live strategy, take off one or two bases back. Far as I can tell you'll have no problem whatsoever, and at 25k you'll have the full realism of flying endlessly without finding another con. It is actually easier to do this on this map, since all the fights tend to be at under 10k.

Yup - This is still my favorite map. Much more fluid, dynamic, and quickly changing. Hmm... I guess one analogy would be that the last map was like WWI's trench warfare. This map is Vietnam.
-
What I hate about it is the country in the right lower corner always gets screwed because of layout of fields.
Also, I like jaboing - it's fun. But, the constant stream of osties killing fields gets old very quickly. If it was pnz's, it'd be more fun, but right now we're using AA guns to kill ground targets.
Oh well, at least it's good JU88 dive bombing Ostie terrain.

Hmmmm I guess they were never in Beta 1. The mountain is similar, but the base layout is different.

Like it or love it, odds are when the new version is out with CVs and the other navel aspects to it you probably wont ever see this map again. You only have 1 more tour to endure/enjoy it

any change is agood change

I think this map lends itself to warpage. Big furballs at 11 and 10 tonite and nothing but major warps.
This map has fewer areas to attack and thus loads of warps. Saw planes warping 2K at a time and PLENTY of rubber bullets.
Sucks even more.

Rosco - hmmm, yeah, yer right. This is the last time we'll be seein' the beta map again.

Agree with Dingy's points 110%. Booo! to this map.

Gentlemen, come to the Med SEA in about 8 hours.
I and any other B17 pilot who is interested will be going to bomb something on Corsica, Sicily or Italy.
I/We will be looking for non blue escort and Italian or German opposition.
Self imposed 20K cap for B17s.
You die, go gun in a bomber or ride with a friend or site see out of the action area.
This is not intended to be Main arena capture stuff, I will inflict damage if possible and try to live to do it again tommorrow.
If we are waylayed by non theater planes, such is life, but I am sure I will at least not see any roaches.
Hope to see some of you later.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?

I like the fact that ground warfare is in a much more important role here than in the sf-terrain. This brings the fights lower and jaboing is more frequent. I thought you liked to jabo, Dingy? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Oh I do Cam...its just that last night the Rooks were on the defensive for most of the evening so we didnt really get a chance to do much field Jabo'ing.
What bothered me most was that with as many planes in the air around the fields we were defending, I saw major warpage all evening. Got especially bad around 10 where I saw planes warping 2K at a time. Really made furballing difficult. At one time there could be 20-30 planes in a two mile area. Think of all the information that needs to passed back to my FE to handle everything warp free. Even with Cable im sure my FE was choking.

Just as a side note: I saw no warping at all Dingy at 11 or 10. Er, except just prio to the mass boot.
Have you tried any cable modem tweaks? I can recomend a couple just in case you'ld like to make sure your set up best as you can be.
