ATI above (16,14 and 12 size icons), Nvidia below.
Is this common and is there a fix?

I get the same thing when i up image quality on my Nvidia card.
The text get almost unreadable.

  When I don't use Anti-alising and astrtopic filters the text looks better.

  When i set my card to best performance the text looks great Planes look terrible. and vice versa  best image quality the text looks bad and planes look great. hmmmm. I'm hoping thats what your talking about and not the brighter image. For that i would just up gamma and moniter brightness.

I think its Anisotropic Filtering.
It screws up text for me in Aces High only. I dont know why.

it's not it, was never on... maybe it'll never change, will have to get used to it.

Anistropic filtering and to a lesser degree AA will distort and blur text like that.

it's neither, they are both off.
