Is it true that the joystick doesn't have an 8way hat ?

Bah, cougar world said that it had 4-4way hats on the stick . But then it went on to say that each hat had 9 programable positions. So obviously they cannot be 4way hats .

Yep, they're 4-way hats in that physically there are only four switches inside of them, but they can be programmed in all 8 positions, plus the center position.  I don't know why they don't just call 'em 8-way.

I thought that Hat 1 was an 8 way hat (thats the top one on the stick I think).  Oh well, it works like one if it ain't.

BTW, they have any info released on getting maintainence kits?  Not having any problems, but I would like to order a set of pots just in case, and maybe a hat switch or two.

Math how steady is the x and y axis of the cougar compared to your MS prepro ?

ALL hats on the Cougar can be mapped to 8 ways

Your's only has 3?  Funny, mine has 4.  

You might wanna return yours.  :)

All 4 hats can be programmed in 8 directions plus the middle.

Well, I think it is as smooth or smoother.  Don't know if it really is or not, but it feels about the same.  Initially, I didn't like how stiff the springs were, but they have broken in and I have gotten used to it.  I find I have much better control than I did with the PrePro.

Yep 4 8-way hats that can be shifted through 6 separate modes if you include the dogfight switch position and /I /O commands which is quite handy for adding look up commands in each of the 8 directions although I generally use the mousestick to pan the view...that is until my TrackIR arrives :)
