Title: Max TO weight
Post by: Imp on January 30, 2003, 05:58:55 AM
How about putting in max TO weight.

It would be more reralistic.
B17 could TO with big bomload and not much fuel.
Ju88 could take those big 1000-1800KG bombs too.

It works great in another online sim ;)

Try taking off from a CV in an F4U-1 clean and with 1/2 fuel then again with full fuel and DT or big bomb ... then tell me if Max TO weight isn't already modeled. ;)

To add to what Arlo already said, have you tried taking a B-17 full of bombs and fuel off from a land base?  It is very very difficult and you will be flying at treetop level for quite sometime after takeoff.  Seems like TO weight limits are there already.

Or are you asking for standardized ones, to make loadout more quick and easy?

:D

What he is saying is that a B17 for instance currently can just take off with 6x1000lbs and 100% fuel, but when only taking 50% fuel he would like to be able to take more bombs, to make the TO-weight the same as the first case.

Are we really talking about accurate bomb bay capacity?

Yes, if we keep talking about the B17 it could load up to 9600 lbs if it weren't to go on a long range mission I believe.
Something similar were often the case for other bombers.

The B17G could actually carry  around 16000lbs on short range mission.

It could carry bombs on hardpoints (like the Disney Bomb).

And the Ju88 could carry 2 1800KG (about 4000lbs) as overload (probly used RATO units to TO). Would be nice to have RATO for it.

HTC any comments? You dont have to say yes or no any answer will make me stop bothering you guys :D
