Donno.

But there was a requirement during 262 development for the use of "Silber" fields. These fields needed to have paved runways. BTW one of the codenames for the 262 was "Silbervogel", silverbird.

The Me262 not, AFAIK, but the Arado indeed did fly from grass fields (at least the recce version wich had a trolley for take off and skids for landing  ;))

R4M I would be really suprised if they operated from grass fields with the production models with the standard landing gears.

Sometime you should watch the Discovery series on Luftwaffe aircraft. I have seen footage of a 262 taking off from a grass field. Admittedly, it was the tail dragger, but still!...
