What in the world happened to RAM?
Love him or hate him, he was a fixture in aces high for a long time. Surely gave HT some hairpullin fits. I know I had a disagreement or two with him myself. Say what ya want, but you have to admit he was consistent. ;)
Where did he go? IL2? WWIIOL?
Where be he?

Call me bored. I did a search for the infamous "backwards firing typhoon (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10742&perpage=50&highlight=typhoon&pagenumber=1)" post and then the subsequent "Too much, bye (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10814&highlight=typhoon)" post. Man, I miss the dude! and I know fatty does. :)

Inside my computer.
-
I think he quit.
He was known for that, yes?
:)

Used to browse over here back then. I'll pass..
We had Bobn, who I enjoyed. Though a handful, it was entertaining. Sorry he's gone.
But I am curious if the "touching" thing was resolved eskimo :)
-
I miss him so :(
-
Before my time.
-
wetrat is RAM:p
-
He was one among best wingmen I ever had since began here. Don't know where he is, unfortunately.
-
I have him in my msn contact list, I'll be sure to ask, but I think RL keeps him busy.

Who cares where RAM is? I wanna know where his sisters are at.
-
Or his girlfriend. What a knockout she was!
-
In old times there were pics of RAM's sisters in the Jg2's private board; are they still there?
hmm guess we couldn't attach images then... nm.

Now I am really jelous on RAM. :D
Haven't seen him around the other sims lately. He was in WW2O for a brief period of time. Never spotted him in IL2...
Miss him too! Remember the first time I met him - he wanted to convince me that the 190A8 accelrated faster than the G10 and was the better dogfighter overall (I was a 109 geek back than) - snap, we went to dueling arena (or whatever off-broadway arena existed then) and did a race which the G10 won hands down of course (well, I cheated on the WEP ;) ). Spanked him on the dogfights as well - were some close endings, really scary if you consider that he just started with AH and was sitting in a A8! Well, over the time he got me infected with the dreaded KTV (Kurt Tank Virus)... and now that's where I am! ;)
Hot headed and stubborn - one of the best pilots I met out there and one of the few real 190 pioneers in AH!!
-
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAM COME BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
I'll bug him and see if he can post here. We have ICQ chat from time to time.

They might be...I haven't had access to the JG2 board since forming VMF-323 in July of 2000.
Just a note on Ram. I really enjoyed Ram as a squaddie, he was like a blank tape that was begging for information to file...we trained together in 190's and he absorbed everything like a sponge. He began as a dweeb that was easy to shoot down, and weeks later, was a menace to anyone crossing his path. I miss Ram too. :(
-
Just spoke with him today. He's busy with exams and the firewall at the university won' t let him connect to any online game.
In any case, he's not planning on coming back...

calling Duma !!
I know he's back but unsure if he has the time for another :)

Duma was back over Xmas vacation, I think I was one of many that privated him and said "WE WANT LOOSE RIVETS BACK!" :) I told him today, in AH, there's no shortage of comic material. :p

Heh...I crashed into this (long long posted) thread while doing a search for another thread...and wow...
Damn how moving!!!...I knew you were missing me...of course, just because of my sisters :p . I knew I had something good in my life after all ;)
Now, answering your questions (more than a year after this thread was started :D)...as you might have seen I lurk around and post some messages now and then. Not too much, tho. Sometimes I just happen to think "let's see what's going on there".
Can't play AH at all, I'm away from home, I am connected behind a firewall and can't play online games at all.
When I'm at home I start AH now and then to fly a bit, but as I'm for a very limited time at home, that happens very few times. Sometimes I miss it, but most of the time I don't. I think it's a good thing, 'cause back on the times I was this forum's whining terror, I was really addicted to AH. Guess I won some perspective as the time passed by. And maybe something more, after all now I'm 26 and back then I was just...22 or so. And I'm having now the best fun I've ever had in my life. :)
Oh ,and BTW, one of my sisters got happily married 2 years ago,and is bound to make me an uncle in 1-2 months :p.So you can forget about that one.
The other is a witch, and I guess she'll remain single for the rest of her life. Deservedly so, I don't think there's a single male able to stand her :D. So you'd BETTER (fer your own good) forget about that one, too :D
BTW Oboe...yes my ex-GF was a knockout... :D
but the one I am going out with now...is better :p
-
If/when you do come back, the FDB's will be proud to start the official RAM Over/Under Pool.
-
LOL!...if you promise enough beer , I'll give you exact info on when will I leave, so you can will the pool ;).
It's guaranteed ,BTW, because probably I'll be flying AH again this summer when I'm at home...until I have to move away again. So there will be no mistake, as I can tell you exactly when will I "quit" again :D.
Now, the ball's in your court...time to make a tempting offer...how much beer will you give to me?
-
Now where's the hblair basstage ??
Good fights ALWAYS, I miss him and the fights.
-
probably, he quitted...
(sorry, could't resist :D)

yeah to bad hblair is gone, I left wb's Air combat arena with the assassins for aces high beta.
-
Aw damn, Ram's coming back?! This place is gonna go strait to hell come summer!
-
nah, I flew AH last summer and last christmas (not much but I did it). I guess that if noone noticed it back them, noone will notice it this summer :p
-
I wasn't around during the "Loose Rivets" time. I still... miss them.
-
My first encounter with RAM...... way back in Feb/March 2000, I was a total newbie had only been flying a few weeks. I took off in a P51D heavy on auto-climb. All of a sudden a 109 dived down (I had crap SA) and having low E I dove down to a factory to get some E and ack protection. The next 10 mins I heard RAM whining on ch 1 asking who I was. What he didn't realise was that I managed to get some E and follow him for about 10 miles until I caught him up and from 300 yards behind blew him up! ;) More Ch 1 talk ensued! :)
Since then RAM occasionally flew Bish and was always well received. If asked how to describe RAM, it would simply be Passionate! ;)
-
I miss RAMs' 190 in my gunsites :)
RAM...yell out when you come online....good to hear from you!
-
S ! RAm, i still keep my active acount but not play lately at all, last 12 months mean, the rest of u with big mounth, pick up 190A8 and let fly ram Niki then go fight him, we see then who whine,
BIG < S! > to also my beloved old squadmates Jg 2
-
pick up 190A8 and let fly ram Niki then go fight him, we see then who whine
Lmao! Speaking of those who are missed....how's life Minus?
-
thxx othervise fine, waiting when AH 2 is finished then maybe back to play :)
-
Sheesh... no RAM, no hblair?
What's a Jug dweeb like me to do? :aok
Grabbing the beta now. Hmm. I guess I better go dust off me old stick.
-
RAM - how ya been? I remember the early beta days as you and I were learning this game. We always enjoyed watching you plow into a mess of cons and ask for help. Of course, you became a much better pilot than I will ever be (slow reflexes).

ROFL! Aint that true :D

Thank you for posting the loose rivets Camo, had a good laugh again!

I still check the boards now and then. I just don't have the motivation to play that I oncew did. I really loved the game for about a year, then after that some kind of retarded addiction set in. I'd find myself logging on to fly when, if i was completely honest with myself, I really didn't even want to be. I'd get into big duke-it-out bulletin board battles here and on bigweek over supremely important topics like *radar!* or *who's a better dueler!* :)
A thirty something year old man with a family of five has no business arguing over such things. :)
My flight rig (minus the box which I sold to a friend) has been sitting down in the garage for several months. I passed by it the other day and thought I might get sentimental. But no, not at all. I might be back on my daughters dell which I'm using now, I dunno. we'll see.
Lately I've been real busy with work and family. actually tonight I just got back from a week long disney vacation/cruise with the family. Had a blast. Thought about aces high zero times. Glad to see rrams growing too. :) It's important to remember that games are games, and real life things are, well, real life things.
I miss my squaddies. I hate the idea of drifting apart, but I just have zero desire to play the game anymore. Maybe that will change with time.
-
I hear that in a dogfight you can still toggle the engine on&off in AH2
-
Hblair you owe to try that Beta, it's like the old days, only you and RAM are missin' :D
-
RAM and HBlair! Holy smokes!
Hope you guys are doing good.
Ole AH ain't what it used to be.
:)

You can do that in RL, too. It's just that nobody in their right mind did.
-
Toad.....good point....by emphasizing "right mind."
-
When AH2 will be released I expect a sort of "rise of the dead" :)
-
"You can do that in RL, too. It's just that nobody in their right mind did."
Fair enough. I'd simply add that during WWII no pilot did that on purpose during air-air combat, period.
Should things like this be permitted simply to validate some hypothetical "could have" at the cost of perverting the spirit (in this case) of WWII style combat? Engine toggling, hgeavy bombers dive bombing, hordes of no skill augerdorks causing the cesattion of of other players fun by levelling innanimate sheds...
I guess in real life bomber pilots could have dive bombed with a Lancaster or B-17. I imagine the 56th FG could all have wiped out Axis airfidles by augering on on targets during jabo runs. I suppose the pilot of a heavy P-38 could use his ten 5" rockets for HO missile attacks against other aircraft.....
There's a lot of other "could have done that in RL too" type scenarios too. Where to draw the line? Should the line be drawn. Can AH be a sim or should it be relegated to the arcade/game genre?
(it's feeling a bit like the old days again! ;) )
