Title: HT - could you take a 2nd look at the Arado please?
Post by: nzimmers on February 01, 2003, 10:11:23 AM
in formation, it can be difficult (really really difficult) to keep the drones from killing themselves -

I thought I had gotten the hang of holding onto the drones untill last night when I ran out of gas at 18K feet and going 200mph (indicated airspeed) and was intending to glide in to a nearby base. I was already at 20% throttle when the engines cut out and I got to watch my drones (read that *expensive*) oh so slowly drift on ahead. Nothing I could do to speed up and catch them or slow them down.

poof - both gone after about a minute as I looked out the front window =(

It's my feeling that if we I have to pay extra in perks for the Arado drones, then I would like a fair shot at keeping them. The way it is now I don't think I have a equitable chance at bringing them home.

by the way, I LOVE the Arado, it's my favorite plane. I've cost the enemy more perks (downing 262's) than I've lost in drones but I would hope you could take a look at this. I'm sure more players would fly arado formations if it was even a little easier to keep them together.

thanks

I mean if you turn hard they will turn harderd some even stall themselves.  and can't recover at all because they try adn stay in formation.  It would be much better if they actually tried to stay in the air while in formation and not be so well dumb.

Easy fix, reduce cost of AR234 by 2/3rds to compensate.  Arado's dont get used much anymore......

I've had same problems.  Had perfect approach, throttled down, flaps, gear down..... guess what the drones did.... they carried on at speed and flew out of range infront of me..... BOOM!

The Ar234 should cost 60 perk points to tak a single or a formation, but....all 60 perk points should be refunded if even one is landed successfully.

The bombers aren't as accurate as they were pre-1.09, but to compensate they have a formation to carry more payload. The new bombsight method is harder to use on fast bombers as well. Why did the Ar234 cost three times as what it used to while being reduced in effectivness?

it the arado had its correct bomb site, as well as the dive bomb site it would be well worth the perks.

the drones could use a better look to, I mean, the window's etc look awfull!

same as the interior of bombers, like the ballturret of the B-17, you just look into the compariment.
and the topturret of the B17 and B26 looks awfull to, there's nothing below it!

I the first place i think they should be called Clones.  And secondly they should act accordingly.
After all, the same person is controlling all three Planes.
Or are they?

All bomber drones don't lock on to lead unless you pull above a certain altitude.  What you have to do is fly nice and straight off the runway, trying to keep speed with your drones.  Then when you two are nice and grouped together (notice you're forming on them essentially) pull into a gentle climb.  The drones will then lock on to you and you won't have much trouble keeping them from there.

Fancy, they don't follow you down the runway. They literally stay there and explode once you get so far away. Yes, I tried going slow enough to let them catch up. They don't move.

BGB, go offline and load up the pizza map. Takeoff from A48. 1 drone will roll backwards and die. The other one will follow you but eventually auger. Check it out.
