The above is the reaction to this morning's terrible disaster by the Idiots in Iraq.
Edited: post was made in anger.

You in it.

Yeah, and maybe the people who make those comments will get brownie points with the regime. You've seen the 'spontaneous' demonstrations of support for Saddam by his own people - they are the most stage managed events in the world, outside of the theatre.
If you take these comments seriously, then you are as much of a fool as the people making them. What were they supposed to say?
"I really feel for the Americans and the Israeli who were killed - I hope their families are ok."
lol and I'm sure the local gestapo heavy mob would love that!
-
let those comments be known as Saddam's last words
-
"President (Yasser) Arafat and the Palestinian Authority offer their condolences to the six American families and the Israeli family who lost their loved ones in the catastrophe," Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian official and spokesman, told Reuters.
I thought that response was interesting. Maybe it's just my optimism getting the better of me.

They don't live in a civilised state - they live in a 30 year old dictatorship for shreck's sake.

The "enemy" can be just as capable of honor.
But maybe its easier to visualize them as evil monsters who only dream of doing harm.
To win a war you must dehumanize your enemy.

Twolf, remember everything that is released from Iraq is controlled by saddam. He tried to turn the Gulf War, essentially a invasion of kuwait for money into a Jehad, or holy war.He tried then to make the americans out as devils/enemies of God etc. Remember also that GOOD MUSLIMS realised and knew he was using their religion, one that promotes tollerance and understanding not war, to try to fire feelings of hate for western countries. They didnt buy it then and they dont buy into it now.
Dont allow Saddam to get exactly what he wants. He wants you to hate. He is no slouch when it comes to manipulating events into political statements and claims of god showing us we are right because he hopes to fuel the west/east hatred and he realises religion and 'god' are his best tools for that job.
Its a despicable statement and one i hope he pays for with his own blood, but i refuse to believe this man speaks for all in his country or the Arab nations alike and i wont let him stir up hate in me because i know thats exactly what this lunatic wants. I truelly think we are dealing with a madman but he is no fool. That statement is most likely designed to anger the Americans into fighting early. If he is going to be removed, which he must know is inevitable should the war begin he will seek to split the UN and USA in the process. Lets bide our time and remove him without making him a martyr together. Id like to see us go to war as one, a world whos opinion of his regimeand intent is united.Who knows maybe we can rid the earth of him and at the same time strengthen friendships between each other. Now that would REALLY piss saddam off :D
-
I'd like to think that if the same thing happened to an 'enemy' country, that the US would show decorum and condolence to non-combatent scientists. I dunno..I'll bet there would be redneck hooters and hollerers in the streets of Podunk, USA cheering the demise of say Arab astronauts.

TWOLF: Lets' wipe this pitiful country off the face of the earth!
Dowding: If you take these comments seriously, then you are as much of a fool as the people making them. What were they supposed to say?
Iraqi people are not fools. They are either forced to lie or are cut off from the world of information and have no basis on which to form a correct opinion.
On the other hand americans do not have those excuses to believe in stupid things.
BTW, Twolf, why don't you buy a ticket to Turkey, cross border into northern Iraq and kill some of those iraqi's personally? I bet a $100 will buy you a decent rifle and a can of ammo right there. It's amazing how many idiots believing some war is necessary do not realise they do not need government permission to fight it. Just go there like muslm volunteers/mercenaries do in Chechnya and Chroatia and Afghanistan, like russians did in Serbia, like people from baltic states did in Moldova. The way is wide open. Gather as many of your kind as you can - it will be more fun together.

Animal,
I read your post regarding the terrible events of today, and know that you’re not stupid. I also know that you are grieving the loss as we all are. What you, and some of this community do not know, and could not unless you seen it first hand is the unmitigated hatred that the vast majority of that part of world hold for anything not Islam. I don't hate them. I pity them for their blind ignorance and hatred. What cannot be tolerated is that hatred. They will do anything to destroy Israel, the U.S. and anyone that isn’t' Muslim. I will not apologize for my anger at them. Nor will I stand by idly and hope that it will go away. I don't like our current administration, but at the same time these people must be dealt with before they cause more death with their uncompromising hatred. I hear all the time about the folks that are killed by our planes when our planes are Fired on. Well, guess what. Our planes were fired on. Duh!, what do you think they are going to do? Drop roses when they fire SAMs at them? Collateral damage is inevitable in these cases for the most part. But that's how the administration in that country likes it so they can send live feeds of the "Unspeakable acts of American Terrorism" to the rest of the Muslim countries.
I will also point out that I am an Army reservist, and a former Regular of 16 years of service. I have already Volunteered to go, and hope to be called up soon. But I am in a low demand MOS now for this type of campaign. My former MOS had me in the frontline the last time. If I am called to do that (once again I already volunteered) I will gladly go. So you can see I am not some fat potato chip eating far right slug sitting in front of my PC beating the war drum, and blindly supporting the current Republican President. From your sig I see that you are in Puerto Rico and are probably a U.S. Citizen. You of course of a right any opinion for or against mine, but I thought that maybe I should make myself clear before you say that I should be wiped off the face of the earth with them. Chances are, I will be one of the troops there doing the dirty work.
-
TWOLF, realize that what you see on the news is not what is there.
Saddam controls the media. Basically any audio/video feed that leaves the country has been inspected by Iraq officials.
And, sadly, it works even worse the other way. Any audio/video feed coming INTO the country is also controlled by Iraqui officials. So you can imagine their perception of what we are. If you can conclude that they are evil, imagine what they think of us when their media is carefully orchestrated as a mass brainwash.
And those who dont buy it, who do not let themselves be brainwashed by the blatant propaganda, are tortured and killed. Whole villages of them.
-
They quoted a "government official" and a "mechanic".
Your hatred for all things Muslim TWOLF didn't allow you to read to the bottom of the article.
"President (Yasser) Arafat and the Palestinian Authority offer their condolences to the six American families and the Israeli family who lost their loved ones in the catastrophe," Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian official and spokesman, told Reuters.
Erekat said Arafat had sent President Bush a message of condolences over the loss of the NASA space agency's shuttle. The United States, Israel's closest ally, is the chief Middle East peace broker.

Animal, the winner of a war is the one most willing to part with "acceptable means" and go ballz out for the enemy's heart. We are finally beginning to realise what the terrorists already know.

Well, what do you expect from Saddam Hussain and his lackeys?
But don't forget, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson agreed that God allowed the September 11th attacks to succeed because of our tolerance for things like abortion and the gay and lesbian lifestyle.

I DO NOT Hate all things Muslim. Not one thing that I have ever posted even comes close to stating that. Read, and understand before making such statements.

Yep, I'll make sure and watch the leader of the American Taliban on Mondays 700 Club to see how he spins this tragedy. ;)

TWOLF: I DO NOT Hate all things Muslim. Not one thing that I have ever posted even comes close to stating that. Read, and understand before making such statements.
You've said that Iraq should be wiped off the faice of the Earth - with it's population I presume. You did not say anything about muslims, true. I understand that everyone who utters a bad word against your country even under duress of from being deceived must die.
I guess you believe US opposes some other regimes not because we believe that our ideals of freedom and democracy are superior and good but because we just have the might, otherwise the Hussein's views are just as valid as ours.
Guess what, in view of most americans the iraqis are victims of the Hussein's regime. After being forcefully kept ignorant and brainwashed and intimidated from birth and being fed stream of hate and desinformation all life long, some of them do get to become hate-filled monsters that you've seem to become all on your own. There is an excuse for them and a good chance that many of them are not truthfull in expressing the anti-american feelings and the rest will see the truth after they are given access to it - like former soviet subjects and other recently liberated people, or germans or japanese.
Since your xenofobia and blind jingoism are apparently the results of your innate character - after all you have acess to all the info uncensored - there is not much hope for you, I guess.
American morality does not condone kicking the victims - almost as often as not americans go after criminals/oppressors and help the victims and free the oppressed, even if the victims are temporarily delusional. That's why we are better than Hussein or Hitler or Tojo, not because we can successfully launch big obslete overpriced monstrocities into space with 98.5% success rate.

All I will say is that you don't know me. You have only seen this thread. I will not attempt to change your thinking. But you are wrong in your opinion of me.
But you have that right.

Are you talking about the Iraqi Army?? Caught in the desert with their stolen stereos, TV's, cars, pickups, etc., and if not killed outright by Coalition forces, surrendered in droves by crawling on their bellies begging for mercy???
Yeah, pretty effin "honorable".......

Iraqi soldiers surrendered to (among other things) remotely piloted vehicles and unarmed helicopters.
-
The biggest mistake you can make in battle is to underestimate your enemy. You better hope your leaders opinnions are not as arrogant and stupid like the couple above.
The troops that were surrendering had been camping there for weeks with no supply, food or water. They had no hope nor did they probably even want to fight for the dictator whose method of power is keeping his people in fear. However the picture fed to you by the coalition censored and controlled media is not the whole truth. Just as they made people think they were using only smart bombs while about 10% of the payload landed there was 'smart' in any way.
Most of you seem to forget that the picture official Iraqi or US media gives you might not (or most probably doesn't) represent the opinnions and thoughts of an average Iraqian. They suffer under dictatorship with little food and no healthcare to speak of. The average Iraqian might be as excited as you about getting rid of Saddam, but nobody can say it out loud because they'd be shot.
If there will be a war, millions of decent and innocent people will suffer for the stupidity and arrogance of their religious and political leaders. If they had the choice they would change that. They don't.
You people seem to be totally overwhelmed by the propaganda fed to you by the media. It's so easy to bomb another country if you conveniently forget they are people just like you and me. They have families and children just like you and me. They eat and breathe just like you and me. They're not all animals albeit the powers that be up there aren't the brightest of the bunch. If a newspaper writes mocking articles about US because Saddam's propaganda office tells them to, it doesn't mean this is the opinnion of everyone in Iraq.
It's the diddlying religius fundamentalism and the brainwashing that's the root of this whole damn problem.

If you're able to be more honorable why are you not in the gulf ?

Actually: In answer to your non-sequitur, what does my location have to do with the alleged "honor" of the Iraqi Army?? Or is this just more ignorant bleatings from Anti-American Euro-Trash???

Funkedup you have a different opinnion about this?
Tell me, how many Iraqians do you know in person? Do you know a single thing about them outside of what you read in the media?
-
I have the same opinion pretty much. I just don't need somebody calling me arrogant and stupid and telling me a bunch of info that I already know.
Do you have a different opinion than my statements about Iraqi surrender? Both the incidents I refer to were caught on video very clearly.
-
Funkedup don't tell me you base your opinnions on the 'news' the coalition media machine was delivering? Lol.
Probably things went just as they described, but after Vietnam you have to realise your government won't make the same mistake again. Take everything you see with a grain of salt. Did they mention anything about the chemical weapons used against your ground troops during the war? Nope. That's just one example of the things that have revealed later.
The media was extremely suppressed and gave out only information that was approved by the coalition media officers :)
-
You're not addressing my question.
-
Sorry funked you were not reading my answer, it seems.
Edit: btw if you thought generally the same way, my rant wasn't addressed to you obviously.
-
OK np.
I just was wondering if you thought they fabricated the video from the UAV and the Blackhawk, which show Iraqis marching out of trenches with white flags held high.
-

I see what you are saying, and agree. The "real time" stuff on TV is heavily filtered. But if you read enough books (and talk to enough military people) you get to learn a lot of interesting things after it's all over.

TO further Animal's point, it is much easier to kill something you feel is sub-human. Give it a face and a name, or even a family, things become more difficult.
btw. do you think we have never took "trophies" from battle?

I think everyone should notice how I refrain from posting in this thread.
Instead Im sitting here listening to some really good music.

Lol hortlund..
That might be also wise with the censor striking lately.
I hear people dropping like flies.. :)

Twolf i think its clear your statements were kneejerk reaction to what can only be described as a truelly antagonistic statement at the very time when it will cause the most anger. Perfectly understandable. I get the feeling from your further replies this isnt what you would normally be like.

TWolf has always seemed quite reasonable before. Sometimes we post in anger and give the wrong impression.
