Thats a little warm but nothing to worry about.  Is that your idle temp or after you been playing games a while? My xp 2100 usually idles at 47 or 48 but will hit 57 to 60 under load depending on the temperature in my room.

MwxX - After my experiences of the past two weeks, I am now the cooling expert!

Read this thread of mine (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76757) about overheating problems and cooling. For me, it was the actual case that was the problem. It had been bought as a complete system in 1997, when it housed a P2/266. But after two upgrades it contained an Athlon 1.2GHz. The modern AMD processors generate a lot of heat and need a well ventilated case with fans, and my old case was no longer suitable.

I didn't need the Arctic Ice or additional heatsink. Just a more roomy case. Two fans at the front sucking in, two at the back blowing out. My CPU temp has dropped from 64° down to 44°, and the mobo is now at room temp. I never would have believed that the case and adequate ventilation could have made that much difference.

Mwxx,
55 C is ok for an AMD as my 2100 gets there under load on hot days.

Beetle,
Remember my reply to you almost 6 months ago. LOL

 beetle,
You have a 20 deg rise from MB to CPU temp which isn't so bad if you are using stock cpu cooler. What seems to be bad is the airflow in your case with a 21 deg rise from room to MB temp. My room is usually around 30 deg and MB never above 37 deg. My rise under load then brings CPU to 52 deg. I think mine is a little high but I prefer my ocean breeze to air conditioning. I could use a high rpm fan on the AX7 but prefer the quiet 2900 one I use. As Skurj said, I am sure mine with last till upgrade time. Your upgrade time may be coming sooner than you like.

Davenrino - yes!  I remember you posting. But my Athlon 1.2GHz is like the Energizer Bunny, and keeps on going, and going, and going...  I get up to 85fps (60 is normal). So I don't think I need upgrade for some time to come. :):D

Beetle ,
I didn't say you NEEDED to upgrade, I meant you would HAVE to upgrade if you kept running at 80 C.  My point was that I told you 6 months ago your case cooling was inadequate. ;)

Vorticon,
There are a number of progs such as Motherboard monitor, Asus probe and MSI PC Alert.  Do a search for Motherboard Monitor.  You can also see it by entering BIOS during bootup.

Davenrino - ah, sorry - misunderstood which part of your post you were talking about. But yes, you were absolutely spot on. It was the case cooling/ventilation which was entirely to blame for my CPU temps. Now, the intake of air at the front is so strong I can feel it.

Here's a pic, showing what it looks like inside. Air comes in at the right (front) and out the left (back). I chose to ignore AKDejaVu's advice to rub it along the carpet. The case is earthed, you see - so any static cgarge gets drained away. :D

Yo Beetle,
Fold that ribbon cable or get a round one by the exhaust fans I bet it will help.
