I know this is off topic and should be in the "Help and training" forum but..
Try to shoot them before they're really low to the ground.
Works for me :D
-
Open up really low to the ground. Works for me. And even if ya get me, wasted ammo. ;)
-
3264 of them were FDBs. WTG guys!
!

Shooting people in chutes is pointless or more accurately perkless. I was guilty of it in the past I must admit but rarely now. In any case it just helps them get back in the action quicker. Let them hang there and float forever. I used to quite enjoy the view but now open really low like a kind of HALO jump. I do like the idea of people crashing while trying to hit chutes. Poetic justice, methinks?
-
Poetic or not it's funny as hell. Almost as funny as the guy who passed me and crashed as I was spinning in. ;)
-
That's how many people have died near chutes.. not trying to kill them.
BTW, I haven't died trying to shoot a chute this tour. I'm 42-0.

Then you haven't shot at mine yet cause the only time I've died in one is laughing. ;)

The whole point is to get them back into the action quicker so you can pop their chute again.
-
3265 bananas, who got their comeuppance. What's the POINT of shooting a chute? The guy's going down anyway.
Or is it in any way related to an obsession with score?

No, it has an awful lot to do with my obsession with people squeaking and moaning on Channel 1 over something as little as one set of pixels doing something else to another set of pixels.
The signal to noise ratio for shooting chutes makes it worth it the trouble.

Is it possible to kill chutes while the chute has not been opened? I remember falling down (chute closed) and taking lots of hits. But didn't die.
-
if they weren't meant to be shot, they wouldn't blowup in such a purty fireball when they are
-
Eww ... fireball! Shoot me! Shoot me! heh heh heh :D

Absolutley.
-
They are part of the strat... they have explosives strapped to em. I have never missed a chute. It is extremely good deflection shooting practice to shoot the cowardly sabatours while they are in freefall.

Hehe ... oh yaaaaas. Shoot my chute, baybeeee. Punch out low ... open lower. Flip em off as they pass by with their guns a blazin'. Oh damn ... I've been captured. Didn't get many points that sortie at all. Up again. ;)
Who loves ya, baybeeee? :D
-
those of us who shoot at you appreciate your sacrafice in the service of improving our gunnery and fending off the boredom that can sometimes set in on certain maps.

"Shoot at". Got that right. ;)

oh please call them sprites damnit
as for chute shooting...wait till there about to touch down then attack em...if you can succesfully kill em then your good
of course in hth ive been shot as the little man thing hundreds of times because some moron thought i was a tank...lol
-
I don't see why people shoot them. I love the idea of the poor guy who bailed and opened at 15k hanging there for 5 mins.
-
Well....if he bailed at 15k then it gives you time to run around and kill the rest of the enemy and then swoop down and kill him just before he touches down.
:D
-
Given the chute shooter .... ain't just a chute shooter. Yaknow ... workin' on his skills to become a plane shooter some day. ;)
-
WOOHOO ! Serves them right. The bastages :D
-
arlo please teach the other cowardly sabatouers some chute acm... every one I have seen is pitifull.
lazs
-
Sure thang. I can do that here.
Bail low ... open lower. Laugh at the fool who followed you down to shoot your chute as he either:
a: Augers because he can't pull up.
b: Flys right by with guns a blazin' ... totally oblivious to the bogie on his tail.
c: Gets on ch 1 later to ask who the cowardly bailer was (because he wasn't the one who shot ya down).
d: If he manages to shoot your chute congratulate him on getting past that hurdle and wish him luck on doing the same with planes.
Good luck, Lassie. ;)
-
thanks arlo.... I will continue to shoot at the chutes then in the hope that someday I can shoot down an actual AH aircraft (besides my own). When I get to that point in my AH career... I will ask you for advice on shooting planes.

Always there for ya, darlin'. :D
-
I got three kills tonight just by standing on the ground as three people crashed trying to strafe me. From now on I'm just going to bail out on an enemy base and soon I'll be top scorer

It's fun to shoot them and even more fun to hear them whine and squeak on Channel 1.
Ack-Ack
-
I only shoot chutes after I let that C-47 get within 1k of me and I saw that wing off with my M16 :D
-
My squaddie got 4 kills tonight in his chute. 4 guys collided with him. Theres a prolonged FE delay from bailing to showing as a chute. Most of the time it looks like an aircraft is hanging in mid air.
I have collided several times my self to this.
-
I only ever shoot chutes that are sitting on the field spying. Which brings me to an amusing story.
A few day ago a was shot down over any enemy base with two kills. Just for a giggle I ran into one of the hangars.
Result - By the time I was killed I had 14 kills, lol.
-
Does that figure also include collisions with disintegrating aircraft? It would explain the high number. I don't shoot chutes (waste of ammo in my Yak) but I have been known to fly into wreckage from time to time when I pack too much speed.
