Always be careful what you wish for. A post(s) awhile back called for changing radar, disabling it, getting rid of it altogether, etc. Well, now HT has solved that problem where 2 Lanc's can now put the radar down...and add to that the fact that the city now stays down for 2 hours once demolished, whereas the HQ will stay down for 2 hours (2.5?) as well.
So, thanks for fixing the radar HT ! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Hehe rip,
Although, by the title of your post, I would assume that this is somewhat tongue in cheek. I think that now it is too easy to "pork" a country's dar. I played alot this weekend, (lol, seems like most of us did) and it seemed like the radar was down in some form quite a bit. The only negative thing I can see about this is someone trying to find a fight, especially someone new to Aces High. See this...

Dunno if dar had anything to do with fats not being able to find a fight, but it would apply to a similar situation with anyone new to Aces High.

Yeah Trimmer I know what you mean. Yesterday morning I logged in for a quick 15 min flight, lol turned into an hour and a half. Well when I logged on I was in the tower looking for the action, when the radar went out. Then I got to thinking OH MAN! The cities are down for 2 hours now! I wasn't happy (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) and started to ask for some cheese with my whine. Radar came back up about 10 minutes later and all was good. I think it just rubbed me the wrong way because I had been awake for about 5 minutes. I get cranky if I've been up for 5 minutes and my toys don't work the way I want them to! Trimmer, tongue in cheek, yes, but I really like the fact that he doesn't make a global change, he just changed the strategy. In other words, those that disliked the radar before will now be pleased, since most of the time there will be no radar! Those who liked it the way it was before will have to earn it by protecting their cities and HQ (kinda like real life?!?)
See ya at the con!

I dont see what the deal with radar is. IMO, dot radar should only be allowed in radar equipped planes (like night fighters... BRING NIGHT FIGHTERS & NIGHT to AH!!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) ), dot radar should only work in a 10 mile radius in both fighters AND AIRFIELDS (not vehicle bases!).
Bar radar should only work on the sector the FRIENDLY bases are (vbase and airbase).
With these limits radar becomes a defense warning tool, not an omniscient eyesore that draws people into the air like flies.
Who knows, it may even get rid of the fricken strato buffs, as they will have a chance to get to target at 20k! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I agree with Ripsnort and Tac. When the Jabo planes arrived there wasn't much left for bomber pilots to do. Strategy seemed to drift back to the constant furballs again.
Now bombers have an important mission that can be achieved without having to recruit large numbers of pilots.
This should cause a shift in strategy to protect the Hq's areas.
Tac is right. All this pinpoint radar is a bit unrealistic, and it causes constant vulching furballs. Having radar bars in only the sector where a friendly field has an active radar station would be excellent.
I agree with Ripsnort in thanking Hitech for fixing the radar problem.

I didn't see the radar go down once where it wasn't completely telegraphed in advance.
The truth is, people are going to have to start thinking ahead.. dare I say using defense and strategy?
You can't wait for a con to get into dar's sector before going up to investigate. You can't wait for bombs to start dropping at a base before going up to defend.
Every time I saw bish HQ go down last night, 30 of the 47 people on-line were hitting 27 (for 4 straight hours). They never got it.
Dar went down 4 times during that period.
I seriously doubt the ease with wich dar goes down is the issue.

Nor was it the issue of this post. Just commenting that a 'middle-ground' has been implemented.
Your post shows the importance of the Scenarios that are going on nightly now. It takes the 'vulch' mentality equation out.
Flew in Busc's Night Raiders scenario, where Lanc's Vs. 205's was just a blast!
<S> Deja, had some damn good fights with ya over the week-end.

It is "easier" to take down city, hq, radar etc now that we have lancs (compared to B17s).
It is not so "easy" if you intercept the bombers (as long as they are not 30k+ all the time).
The instances where we lost radar over the weekend,,,, were all due to lack of fighters to intercept the bombers on those runs. Like someone said, it's all in strategy and planning ahead. "Patrol" flights are almost a neccessity now, much more so than before.

I am a very lousy Buff driver, but already had the pleasure to flatten Bish HQ 5 Times (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) ... With 1 Lanc.
It's a good thing to do when you wak up in the Morning & like Udie, you feel a bit rough... Startup AH, get the Buff, Take off...make coffee, shower, drink coffee...arrive over Tgt, set salvo, Drop eggs, go home (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I can think of one benefit to having the ability to use two Lancs to disable/destroy radar - You are almost guaranteed to find Lancasters inbound to HQ at around 30k. Its quite a thrill to fly around defending the HQ at 29k in a gondola armed G-10. The venerability of a Lanc from belly attacks make them a relatively low-risk kill.

Yep I love it. AWACS HUD display is for F-22 sims. I love how they shortened the icon ranges too. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
The shortend icon range and the increase in ac detail at longer range(or is that my imagination) are the biggest changes in the game for me. I can actually start to tell the type of plane befor its icon jumps up...
Changes the fights alot!
-
Maybe the detail is increased at distance.. or we just never noticed because we had Icons at the distances the detail becomes noticeable.

I'm sure glad they are fixing the Lanc this patch. Last night I tried to shoot down a pair of Lancasters over our HQ at 35k. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Of course it wasn't even possible for me to get above them, they just kept climbing. I only managed to disable one before he got both my ailerons. The other had no problem disabling our dar by itself.
The really pathetic part is that these 2 lancs were flown by members of a squad that I thought to be beyond such behavior. I know better now.
