Last night Rooks were down to 4 fields all evening. The Knights
were hitting them hard and had captured every rook field
accessible to them. In the end, the only remaining fields were
encircled by Bish bases, 2 airfields and 2 vehicle fields. The
rooks were outnumbered 2:1 yet the Bishops chose to attack
the Knights and allowed the rooks to regain a footing. As I
logged the Rooks were back up to 20 bases and moving out.
I don't understand.
-
The bish layed off the rooks to catch up in field count, they're not like the Knights and willing to be lapdogs and take second place. And as we all know... as soon as the bishnit double team ceases, the rooks gain fields.
-
HT is punishing us for the rowdy BBS as of late.
-
the 4 petrook bases were protected by the bish, knights had to fight their way through many bish bases to get to the petrooks, bish would not attack their petrooks, bish only attack the evil knight empire
-
hehe, we discussed within the squad the other night how much fun it would be to get both the rooks and the knights down to 3-4 bases each on the desert map and keep them there indefinitely.
-
This is what u knight did 3 days ago
Don't be a hypocryte assss.

Boy did they ever lay off. I mean I logged on this AM some 12 hours later and the Bish were near even with the Rooks despite a 30% advantage in numbers??
I'm utterly flummoxed.
-
I've been flummoxed before.
They caught the guy and he's doin jail time the bastage..

Dunno for sure, as I haven't flown much the last couple of days, but I have a pretty sound idea why....
Blood frenzy among my fellow knights and severe episodes of acute loss of TEAM thinking.
I logged in today for a few sorties. Knights had almost fully 2 of the 3 "slices". A huge green blob of dots was struggling to take bases up north from the rooks, while a small handfull of bishops were taking Southern fields almost at will. Despite several calls for help that were ignored, myself, Crusadr, and one or two others I don't recall names of were the only ones resisting. I personally downed 3 fighters and a C47 before finally going down for the first time, and by the time I could re-up, another load of goons showed up and the field was lost. This scenario repeated at least 3 times while I was still on. They were taking fields using only 3 or 4 fighters and a bus full of goons. I made one more frantic call, asking, and I quote, for just "10 guys from the spastic horde up north to come down and we could repel all the bish attacks." I finally got a response, but it was some unfortunate twit that figured it was more important to critique my diplomacy skills than to come down and see if he could help. After field 177 went down the same way as the others, someone at 199 called for help. Rather than talk crap to him, I responded, and he and I and a couple of others held out as long as we could, but without just a small group of additional guys to help, we couldn't hold out forever. I finally decided it was pointless to keep it up, and logged. When I came to the BBS, I wasn't at all surprised to see this thread. Sad part is, I just logged back on to AH for a sec to check, and in the time it took me to type this post and get a cold drink, my fellow Knights had lost fully half of the south eastern "slice", mostly I suspect to the very efficient and virtually unopposed "commando raids" performed by the bishops. Just my two cents, but it definitely seems we knights totally lose sight of working as a team at times... lack of response to requests for aid, even when strategically obvious and important, lack of 6 calls when there are 4 friendlies behind the guy who is on your 6, etc., etc. With just a little coordination or team thinking it appeared to me we could have at least maintained our territorial holdings, and as we were gaining ground slowly in the north, maybe even dominated to the point of forcing the reset.. dunno. Sure would have been nice to test my theory though.
-
huh?
-
Jeez inhale, exhale..
How can you say all that without breathing ??
I get all stoved up trying to read it in one hunk.
But I'm old, and pretty much stoved up at the get-go.
But don't look bad nakid on a PT boat.

This has happened twice in two days. Knits first then Bish. Neither wanted to change the map badly enough to risk taking second place. I'd wager the knit's channel 1 looked much like the Bish's with all the "we need to start hitting someone other than the rooks or we won't get the win!".
Too bad the Rooks didn't pick sides.
-
I really wonder how important winning the reset can be after one and same map has been there for ages.... One can get those few perk point on the next map easily. If you are that close to reset, why dont u just go for it?
-
Hehe, happened again last night ;). Rooks were running an RJO, starting with 40 bases to 90 Bish and 120 Knits (approx.). So, we turned on the Bish, knowing that the Knits usually have a strong showing on Sundays, and hoping they would see our numbers and turn on the Bish as well. We could have finished the Map off in about 2 or 3 hours, and the Rooks would have gladly taken 2nd place to finally move on ;). But no, the Knits kept back-dooring us as we steamrolled the Bish, so after an hour and a half we knew it was futile and turned into the Knits to re-establish our corner slice ... and the beat rolls on ... :).

That terrain absolutely kills my desire to play. Its not a bad map though and I do appreciate that people went through the effort to try and make a good terrain. Guess I just dont like playing on a symmetrical terrain. Its too gamey and fake for my tastes.

I love the Pizza Map! Whenever it's on, my productivity outside of Aces High increases exponentially. :)

It's a Republican conspiracy!! There is oil on the Pizza map and we just have to have it!!! you KNow SUV's and all!!
-
Since we supposedly have a new terrain on the way, presumably the large "beta"-style terrain which HTC announced a long time ago, it'd be nice if HTC used that to replace the AKDESERT map.
If I never saw AKDESERT again it''d still be too soon.

For what it's worth... which is likely not much.
Time and time again, when the Kights have had an advantage and gotten ahead in the flag game, the second place team would allow the bottom team to take some of their bases while they attack the Knights. The result is usually that the Knights lose the reset. I assume that since they don't have fun winning resets, Knights tend to go off on their own to have fun in other ways. The same thing may be true of the other two teams also, I don't know. But a while back I defected to the Bish side to see what it was like there. I found that they seem to work together like a well oiled machine, stomping over the opposition at will. This is a major difference from the Knight team.
I think this difference is greater with the Pizza map because of it's size and layout. I don't think many will deny that most of the base capture there is done by stealth... attacking undefended bases. There are so many, and they are spread out so much, no team can cover them all. The result is small battles spread out over a large area with much less awareness of what's happening in the rest of the arena.
Another thing I have noticed is a popular sentiment among some Knights to let the other side win the reset in the Pizza map to get rid of it faster, and a reluctance to win a reset in the other maps because the Pizza map will return sooner.
YMMV

P.S. I will consider myself GOD......I like the AK map..GREAT terrain..valleys and Hi alt bases......But Dam..sometimes its hard to find a furball.....on late nights
-
I like furballs, I like gigantic furballs, I like humongous outrageously extraordinary furballs. This map does not facilitate that.
Funny tho, how the nits are chewin on the fact they ALMOST had the map. So close . . .
-
`Right now the knits doing their extremely best to keep the Pizza map.
Why not whine now?

As as Knit that was there at the time I can confirm this channel 1 chatter.
unfortunetely we had some self proclaimed Napoleon knothead that most of us had never heard of before convincing most of the knits to hit rooks cause they only had a few bases left. Which left the bish in the envyable position of being able to easily overrun our positions in the nothern slice of the pie
the idea of protecting the rook bases while attacking the knights was one of the smartest moves I've seen yet
Had the knights been smart that day we would have continued the attack on both fronts with enough force to hold the bish at bay and enough to overtake the rook Bases we would have easily won the day. And the map.
Im sure you rooks and bish hear the same thing from time to time.
Some airhead saying "Ok everyone Hit the knights/rooks" and like a bunch of mindless lemmings a good deal of folks actually listen thus weakening the front of the greatest threat to the point where you get over run.
heh, so much for self proclaimed napoleons.

I even jumped into the CT last night, might have been my first time, just to escape the Pizza map.

I was there for this one also. that was the following day after we had the rooks down to 4 bases
There was no reason for us to have lost those bases other then everyone insisted on fighting in the north in that "blood frenzy" you discribed.
Had we had just 10-15 more pilots in the south we could have easily held. As it was we were getting so overwhelmed and getting no help that even I and my squadmates eventually just gave up
What happens is. and Im sure the other countries see the same things is people become too narrowly focused to think about the big picture. Want to really help your country? when you log on dont look to where the most numbers are. look to where your most needed and go there instead.
But then again Im more concerned about the good of my country then I am about point gathering or my ranking. I dont care if you steal "my kill" so long as the kill is made. I know there are others like me. I've seen them. These are also the guys that will unselfishly run supplies to where they are needed to a damaged base or GVs in the feild. They tend to not look to where the biggest furball is but where the greater threat is. Ad they also tend to attack this treat whenever they can.
These are the guys that usually win the resets for a country.
And it is these guys who no matter what country they belong to I give my Biggest to.
your deeds have not gone un noticed.
