I'd be interested to see what AW looked like - I never flew it - I was a WB2 geek before I came here - and I still mess with IL-2, WB3, CFS3 etc.etc. - so if anyone has cool screen shots - please post em here :)
-
Or better yet....in the O-Club.
-
then you or someone else move it there - bling
-
Here's a screenshot from an early version of AW for the Amiga.
-
wow - thats all i can say - we have come a long way :)

Hehe:)
Looks about right.

I'm sure this will get moved to the OC, but here are some from SFP1, which fills a real needed niche of the 1950s and 1960s. The Phantom was always my favorite jet. With its new patch, the game is actually playable, and holds some good promise. Here was my first kill in an F-100 Super Sabre:
-
lol had that one :)
-
Here is a shot of the merge with a couple of Migs:
-
This Contrails shot is kinda neat:
-
What's pretty neat about the game is you can modify almost anything. Here is a skin I developed so I could feel at home around all these rockets and missles:
-
And final shot after I tweaked the Nightmare artwork a little to make it more visible:
-
Geez...that picture brings back memories.

Everyone has seen the screenshots from Il-2. Truely beautiful, if a bit unfunctional for an MMOG such as Aces High. Note the bullet casings falling from my La-5 as I miss the 109G6 badly:
-
Here's two screenshots for Air Warrior. It's taken from Air Warrior: Millenium, the last version of Air Warrior.
It's a screenshot of the P-38J using the SAC skin of Robin Old's 'Scat II' from the 479th Fighter Group.

Here's the 2nd screenshot. Same plane as the last one. I'll try to find some screenshots I have from AW4 before it was cancelled and post those shots.

Here are some later-model pics from AW, I can't believe how the graphics have developed. What was neat about the later AW graphics is you could create a skin for your Squad. Here is the Nightmare skin for the Hogg, note the nose art and the lightning bolt tail art:
-
A flight of Nightmares making a victory pass (actually, this is Woody, FDutchmn and RF):
-
I may have to pick up Strike Fighters, looks pretty good.
Here's another early AW pic in flight. BTW, I just took these using an Amiga emulator. I played Airwarrior when it looked about like this in '90.
-
And two early-model Hoggs rolling on take-off:
-
Of course, we had to make a 190 skin for my favorite ride (why in the world am I in a VMF Squad ;):
-
OK, last post on this subject for me ;). Many of you have encountered a person named Mn7 riding around in his 110 from Rookland. You have probably also wondered why people call him Chooch, or Doc, or *$^%@ ;). Actually these names go back to Air Warrior, where he was known as Doctor C. Hooch, that Daktah of Death ;):

Back in the day... 1996 or so... The Screamin' Blue Messiahs were all on Macs... We flew WWII Skyfighters:

Hmmm... Think it was 1984... platform was Commodore-64. A friend of mine and I would go for hours against each other flying Microprose's Mig Alley Aces.

Split screen... sittin' side by side... we're talkin' high tech...
Compared to the stuff I started flying on 20+ years ago, Aces High is eye-candy.

Here's a nice shot, from a scenario AAR pictorial by Fidd.
It features a FW190 attacking a formation of B25s during the Operation Longbow scenario, one of my favorites (18 frames in 3 phases of 6 frames each).

Here's another shot by Fidd from the first frame of Longbow. He's in his Mosquito, taking off on his mission to scout the target and take BDA photos, passing me up as I climb out in my B17 heavy enroute to formation rendevous.

Here's a short series from Longbow, as Fidd (in his RAF P51) mixes with and kills a FW190.

Zipper,
above the submit reply button is a 'browse' button, use that to locate your image.
you won't need the IMG tag at all.
btw you won't find the browse button on an edited message, it's only there for the brand new messages.

AW also allowed "skins" for water and land textures. Here's an arena shot of me in a Bf109 closing for solution on a Corsair, to show one of my favorite water textures.

Here's a screenshot of what would have been the FW190a8 in Air Warrior 4 if it hadn't been shelved. It was to use the K3D engine, the same one that powered Multiplayer Battletech 3025. It was a fantastic 3D engine as anyone that played MPBT 3025 would attest to. And the flight model that was going to be in AW4 was on par with AH's. Oh well, at least we've got these screenshots.

Amiga flyer here as well...500 first then the badboy 3000:)
Those were great years where all was new and exciting.
Now if we can just get HT busy on the next gen of online flight simmin thingies, I can keep this up for another 10 years or so:)

Sounds like they are on it Rude. Anxiously awaiting Aces High II.
Yeah, still look at those old games every couple of years or so. Hard to believe they were so enthralling. Hoping I feel the same way about the sims of today 10 years from now.

Kesmai was quite close to finishing up AW4 when the plug was pulled. The flight model was already done and as you can see from the previous screenshots, so were a few of the planes.

Sp where can i order Strike Fighter; Porject one?
And how are the flight models? I doubt they'ld be as detailed as in Falcon 4, but I'm willing to play dumbed down FM's, as long as they aren't too simplistic.
Prolly need a new system for it tho.

You are not a bomber pilot, are you? He is holding formation.

I hold formation with Manifold Pressure, I have never had to use flaps other than slowing down really fast. He doesn't need them, he seems to be lagging behind.
-
There are 14 more bombers behind him. I use flaps; it is instantly on and instantly off(not instant, but you know what I mean).

hitting flaps with 14 bombers behind you would throw you up several hundred feet and they would follow, put them back up and you'd sink a few hundred feet, them still following. Seems much simpler to just us MP.
-
I am assuming, Nacho, not having been there. Here is what the pilot had to say:
It's from WWII Online, and the color levels only were auto-adjusted in Photoshop 7. The 24 Havoc raid on Muchen Gladbach was planned by Locotus and led by Feretafc of our sister squad, Eagle Squadrons. Most of the pilots were from ES.
I took the shot about half way to the target in the middle of the formation. We were NOE, had a few fighters for escort, and you can see one at about 1 o'clock. We lost 3 aircraft to collision with terrain, but none to fighters.
We had some friendlies on the ground near the target that radioed reports to Locotus via TeamSpeak of EA activity. Feret timed everything just right, and we pretty much all arrived over the target on time. 3 109s and a Ju-87 were in the area, but there was not much they could do against such a large force.
Flak was really heavy over the target, because none had been taken down prior to arrival. I was third aircraft after the run in from the IP following Locotus and Feret. We queued on Loc’s drop, but he soon went down in flames since he was first in. Feret was shot up so badly that he ditched a short way from the target. I lost number 2 but made it back. There were 18 more Havocs behind us, so we flattened the place reducing production to about 25%. Over the target the inside of my aircraft was lit up like Vegas due to all of the flak strikes. Recon made a movie of the mission, and I'll post the link if I can find it.

scratchn the flaps question....some reason it wasnt shown me th eohter posts yet.. dilaup...
btw..always enjoy AAR's...thx Gadfly...i love tht sht
-
Nice piccie gadfly, betcha the framerate sucked.
I was doing some 109 work over Monchen Gladbach in the weekend before the reset, my FPS dropped to 2. This on a Athlon 2100XP+, GF3, 1Gb of RAM
Air combat was impossible, intercepting buffs was impossible unless you got them before they got near the city.
-
I doubt it, vulcan, but, again, I wasn't there. The few times I have been in big groups like that, it was fine for what I was doing, but I sure wouldn't have wanted to be a fighter trying to bore in for the kill.
-
Don't think its the big groups, when I was there there weren't many EA, think its something to do with the AI AA.
-

no comment.
-
It kills airspeed, sunking.
-
What I think he is saying Glad, is this was a bad FM bug of IL-2 as well. Whip the flaps out regardless of FM effects and speed to slow down.
Manifold pressure should be the key to flying formation in like aircraft if the FM is good. AH does it pretty terrific if I remember from the DWHBG.
-
Every game I have ever flown in, if i ran up on the back of the formation, i would drop flaps to kill airspeed. That is no bug.
edit-I just thought of something. We may be talking abut 2 different things. I don't use flaps to MAINTAIN formation, just to get into formation. That make sense?
-
Maybe, but if you "ran" up to the formation, you may have been hauling bellybutton to catch up and in some sims and their respective planes, dropping flaps wouldn't be possible.
In modern aircraft they are load limited and locked out but yeah, I get what your saying.
And the photoshop colors on the WWIIOL pictures are great. Maybe not true life, but better than FB's Janes's WWII graphics that for some reason just look too cartoonish.
Those shots are what I wish flightsims as a whole look like. Maybe unrealistic, but really immersive.

And here I've been doing AH simply as an interim, waiting for the next "Air Warrior" version to come out! :p
