Was doing a little reading when I came acroos a passage that started the Ju87 D-1 were the first equiped with the 37mm, tank busting gondolas. The Ju87 D-5 were for the most part exclusive tank busters using these guns.
We fly the Ju87 D-3. Can we get these pods? :D

Oh yeah! I believe the guns were syncrhonized also, right, so no yawing problem like with the Hurricane.

Taken from "Aircraft of WWII" by Stewart Wilson
"...and the Ju87G was a specialised anti tank version converted from D-5s and fitted with a 37mm cannon under each wing. This was the final operational version of the Stuka and was used extensively against Soviet armour until the end fo the war."

I think this qualifies as a whole new aircraft... HTC had mentioned no new aircraft til the release of AHII. Re-post this in the AHII forum. I sure as hell would like to see it in the future :)

Wrong plane. The 37mm Flak 18 gun didn't appear until the G-1 and I think it was the D-5 and later models that came with the 20mm wing mounted guns.

" In 1942 the growing strength and technical capability of the Soviet tank arm forced the Luftwaffe to consider an alternative to the bomb as its primary anti-tank weapon. The obvious solution was a high velocity cannon firing a moderatly large projectile. The Luftwaffe therefore ordered the conversion of the 37mm Flak 18 light anti-aircraft as teh BK 3.7 for carriage in an underwing pod. The new armament system was evaluated with considerable success during the summer of 1942 on a Ju 87D-3 conversion, and the type was ordered into production as the Ju87G-1 for full service from the autumn of that year."

So i was mistaken about the D-1 being the first. Was the D-3. What I asertain from this is the D-3 model equiped with the BKs essentially were dubbed G-1s.

The G-1, equipped with Flak 18 37mm cannons, was the anti-armor version of the D-5, not the D-3.

Well I also did some reasearch on the web and came up with this: Another Stuka site (http://www.fighter-planes.com/info/ju87.htm)
It also confirms the G-1 was actually made from the D-3 and the G-2 was the one that came from the D-5. Either way, i understand maybe no upgrade before AH2, but would be cool to have in AH2.

All our current stuka would need is the 37mm (which is already modeled with the osty), and it would be the same thing as the G-1. The D-3 and the G-1 were the same plane, different guns (and maybe bomb load?).

The 37mm guns were mounted in pods under the wings, which means that a) the weight of the plane would change, b) the rotational inertia of the plane would change in all three axes, c) the parasitic drag would change, d) the pods need to be added to the plane model, e) the FE hangar function needs to be changed to accomodate the new plane, ...
While it's less work than making the Stuka from scratch, but it's not a 'wave the magic wand and the plane appears' solution, either.

True Shiva, but thats already been done with the 109s. I wouldn't expect it for AH, but mostly for AH2.
